Hi all,

I know my way around a computer but I'm not exactly hardcore into programming and tend to rely on a Mac so I'm after a little advice.

I've even asked to find out how simple it would be to build a computer, namely one of the smaller machines that would be classed as a mini pc using a windows OS.

The computer needs to operate on a low voltage for a vehicle application. The computer needs to fire up and load one small piece of software upon booting and that's that.

In terms if periferals I can solve that with the use of a touch screen (remember it's in a vehicle).

I'd appreciate some suggestions on a cheap way of doing this and any experience others have of these machines (I.e boot on power).

Disk space, memory etc are no issue as it's a very basic program.

My biggest issue would be connecting a mobile dongle to the device and ensuring it connects automatically - do these typically do this?

Ideally, the computer needs to on at all times and therefore a split charging system and extra battery be installed in the vehicle to ensure the computer can stay on when the vehicle is off.

What sort of current do these machines draw?

Anything I've missed or not explained then please do ask!

What's the program?
If you don't actually need Windows, then a Raspberry Pi could do well.
