Hi,
at the min I have an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ based system with 1Gig of PC3200 ram in dual channel mode.
I'm thinking of replacing the motherboard (Abit AN8 Ultra)with an Abit KN9 Ultra(AM2), and an Athlon 64 X2 4600.
Seeing that I am new to DDR2 I need some help on what ram to get.
I was thinking of getting a one or two gig kit of PC6400(CL5) but do I need PC6400?.
Would PC5300 work and if so what is the difference between the two?
Also what would I gain from CL5?.
Would CL4 be better?
Have no plans for overclocking right now, or changing to Intel.
Thanks,
Kev.

for the same price get a nice intel board and a c2d which is a lot nicer and then 2 x 1gb pc6400 for 75 quid :)

I can not see the appeal of the amd processors atm. and i own 1 :( lol

I know it has been mentioned gazillion times but for the same price you can easily upgrade to Intel. AM2 offers no real performance advantage over skt939 and that your X2 3800+ can easily reach 4600+ (2.4Ghz) speed with a bit of tweaking.

PC6400 is recommended for use with X2, CAS4 is better but the difference is unnoticeable.
