Hi guys,

So I'm looking to give my rig that last bit of tlc to get it looking top notch, already got threads up about a new gpu in MM. What I'm also looking to get is a nice little SSD to get things working really nicely.

Few questions that I hope you guys can help me with...

1) Obviously it would be wise to reinstall OS on the new SSD if I choose that route, but if I use SRT will I need to also reinstall the OS from scratch and will I get comparable numbers to having the OS natively on the SSD and games on my HDD?

2) Just renewed my Kaspersky literally days ago and I'm worried that if I have to reinstall OS then I'll be unable to renew my license when it's all set back up again. Any tips/knowledge in this area?

3) Which SSD's would you recommend? The OCZ Agility looks like a really nice SSD to have, but I'm open to advice around a similar price point.

Thanks in advance for any help on the topic, in hindsight I should have been smarter about my upgrade path but I'm doing my best to rectify it all now!

Hi Ritsugamesh,

You picked the best upgrade IMO and since this was the last part I upgraded, I cant believe I didn't do it sooner. I am no expert though.

1) I also didn't fancy a reinstall from scratch so I did attempt to migrate my OS but on doing this I had nothing but problems and it never worked like it did after I did a complete fresh install. My advice to myself would have been, fresh install from the start to save me wanting to throw the comp out the window.

2) I am pretty sure you will have a product key? or if not email them and state your intentions. I am sure they can advise you better.

3) I have the Corsair force series 3 120 attatched to an Intel Sata3 connection on a Asrock ext4 gen3 mobo. When benched I get exactly what it says on the tin (500+read 500+write). I dont feel in realtime you would notice much difference between the top end drives. Also you can youtube drives loading times and see for yourself.

Best of luck bud and you wont look back, a great investment.
