Hi all im about to install WOW and just have a few questions about the expansions packs ie: The burning crusade/Wrath of the Lich King.

Before i buy these packs in the future do you have to get to a certain level before you need them?

Do they add different levels, sceneries, Missons etc?

A little confused if someone could briefly explain be much appreciated

Yeah you dont really need them until you get to higher Levels. L55 ish for burning crusade and I would probably get Lich King around the same time as well as it offers you the chance to play as different races when you reach L55

get out while you still have a life

 it only took 3 posts to find a funny! :p

I think you can get away with the original until ~level 50, however if you wish to play as a Draenei or Blood Elf and explore their lands then it is worth purchasing BC.

Have a look around for some deals on a 2 or 3 pack :)

I bet (as already seen) loads of people are going to jump in here and say stuff like "quit now," or "don't start" etc. etc..

It's a great game. If you take to it, it'll draw you in. Only in retrospect will you be able to say whether that's a good thing or not. I spent a lot of time in WoW, time I could have spent doing other things - but I don't regret it at all. I had some great times.

If you want a Blood Elf or Draenei character, pick up BC now. Otherwise wait until around 50. LK can wait until around 68.

Enjoy yourself! There's a lot of immature players, there's a lot of super-serious hardcore guys; but there's a ship load of fun-loving casual guys just looking to group up and have some fun. Find a guild with people like that, and you'll have a ball.

Forgot to mention im currently playing Aion not sure if i will be able to switch between the both we will see,no doubt ill end up cancelling one.

Quit now !! Dont start !!

:D

j/k

Been a long looooooong time since I last played WoW, but I would recommend getting Burning Crusade from the start as it has things which you can make use of from the beginning whereas Lich King is a little more useful once you are higher.

is this any good i will dl the 10 day trial no harm in trying it.

Well, based on the fact WoW takes most of it's ideas from LOTR novels etc, i would say it's better considering LOTRO is LOTR.

Eg: Lich King (WoW), Witch King (LOTR).

LOTRO is great also! It has way better graphics, and tries to do away with the grind. More mature players, also. If you're apprehensive about WoW, definitely try out LOTRO.

not apprehensive, just im dl WOW now and have decided to get burning crusade as suggested so i will have that from the start.
I can try lotr no harm, they are my favourite films of all time

As people have said, BC is good to start off with because it gives you two new races to play, along with their starting areas, plus you need it to take Jewelcrafting, if you want it.

But WotLK only adds end-game content, and Death Knights, which require a Lv55 character to make, so you don't need to get it for a while.

And anyway, its cheaper to get WoW and BC together in the WoW Battle Chest. Its £8 on Amazon, which is about the price of WoW alone!

I also agree on the LOTRO download, well worth downloading. One of the better MMOs on the market, particularly in terms of the maturity of the player base. Doesnt hurt to try out more than one after all.
