What are you going to do on your computer? just gaming, video edition etc?

Also what is your budget? around £1120?

casual gamer, bit of video. I am in a wheelchair and most of my contact with old friends is done through Skype and email etc. so used for a mixture of things really. my only constraint is to use my old case as it has a front on/off button I can reach. I cant find a newer similar sized better cooling case. budget about 1200 but some leeway.

For your uses i would save on the CPU and spend more on the GPU.

+1 unless you need the extra PCI-E lanes of the 5930 (40 x PCIE Lanes) over the 5820 (28 PCIE lanes) you won't notice that much difference, both still have 6 core, 12 threads and only .2ghz difference in stock speeds.

Then you have around another £150 to add to your graphics card budget which nearly puts you in GTX980 (non Ti) territory...

Case wise, check out the bitfenix Shinobi and Shinobi XL. They have connectors and power button on the top of the case at the front. Also pretty amazing cooling options! My work workstation is housed in a Shinobi XL and it's a great case (looks wise it's a bit Marmite though).

thank you but I cant reach the top of the case, I can probably reach 3-5 inches above the desk.

Forget high hz or SLI considering your game choice.

For RTS 21:9 and a half decent strong single card is the way to go. You will LOVE the extra vision the monitor will give you on most games. The current 21:9 on offer is dirt cheap. To be honest, i don't think a CPU upgrade is going to give you any gains but if you were going to buy, the ideal choice would be the 5820k and to spend the rest of the extra cash on something with a bit more ooomphf than the 960.

Watch some recordings on youtube for 21:9 inch screens on the games you play. You will be surprised on how much of an advantage you get on the games which allow for the extra width.

Unless you plan on going for tri-sli, the 5930k isn't worth the extra money to you over the 5820k

Get the 5820 and put the remaining money towards something else or back in your pocket.

Do you already have an SSD?

If not, that spare cash will buy a decent 500GB SSD and that will be the biggest speed difference you'll notice out of any of these replacement parts.

I have never thought about my own mod, and wouldn't know who to trust to do a good neat job.
I have always had NVidia cards, don't know anything about AMD.

Is your case on the floor below your desk? Got a shinobi xl here, case height is 57cm and the power, reset buttons are set about 2" in from the front panel of the case.

I'm a fan of nvidia too... but mostly for multi-gpu setups.

AMD can be slow at releasing multi-gpu profiles and there are still some bugs with multi-gpu setups... so always pick nvidia for that.

But... their single-gpu support is great, you won't have any problems there.

And freesync is a LOT cheaper than GSYNC.

With this tech, you get the smoothness of vsync without the lag... it's very good and AMD are much better value when it comes to this.
