Newbie WoW question!!

Hi all,

I have heard so much about the WoW game now that I am pretty certain I am missing out on a good game. I have never played a MMORPG before and I think I am going to buy WoW.

where should I start? Is it just a case of buying the WoW game or are there expansions etc that I will also need. (Don't want to buy the wrong thing)

Also I have heard that you pay monthy to play WoW. What are the costs involved?

Hopefully I will not be disappointed when I get the game because there is no trial offer at the moment.

You simply buy the game then there is a monthly subscription of around 8.99 a month.
