Hi all,

My Rig (In sig) refuses to start up. When I press the power button, all fans start up, but the HD light doesnt come on and no signal is recieved by the monitor. I took everything to pieces and put it all back together again on Saturday afternoon - Still same issue.

Any ideas? I could really do with a recomendation for a pro to look into it for me. I live in Heaton, Newcastle and could do with someone picking it up and testing it all out...Could anyone reccomend me someone?

id take stab at the psu can you borrow a friends, to rule it out

also try his graphics card, if his psu dosnt sort it

thats what id do, otherwise like you say its a trip down yer local pc superstore allthough i would really steer clear of that large one with the red signs outside pc land or what ever its called ;)

has your motherboard got an led display, reading fault codes?

edit: i spose its a needle in a haystack tho, i had an athlon rig do this about 4 years ago and luckily my step bro also had a socket a rig he swapped the components 1 at a time and it turned out to be the cpu, so unless there someone you know local with a 775 rig then ya stuffed

Needle in a haystack is right - I just hate it sitting there doing nothing - bloody thing.

I know there are a lot of people from the Toon on here. Would really appreciate a reccomendation for a Pro. I'd hate to give over £1k's worth of gear to some cowboy

Seems like its happening a lot recently. I had the same done to me, I asked around here and bassically tested all the components i could. I have my MoBo on RMA atm, so thats all you got to do.

Kinda hard to reccomend places without mentioning competitors ;)

i suspect the mobo, just buy another one.

there are lots of newcastle computer repair shops; i know cos ive been applying there lol.

there is a cracking shop in gateshead... cant leave a link on here... but do a google search for a computer shop with ORBIT in the title....

hope that is of some help....

Theres a place on stanhope street, first bits a precious metal / second bit.. chip. I would ask there if they do repairs, I'm not sure they do but its worth a try.

I've got a bloke comming round tonight to pick it up - Was recomended by someone at work. He seemed like a good chap on the phone - so we'll see what happens - I hope it's noth a hardware thing.....
