Latest reports say they have completely released him from the club.

Unreal :(

The guy is a **** let's not mince words about it but I cannot understand why you would release last years best player on a free transfer. Yes he criticised the club but Thet know he's a **** let him get on with it and help keep us up.

I can sort of understand where the club is coming from saving money (he's apparently on 55k a week and the club are rightly trying to operate within their means but it doesn't help tossing one of your best players for nothing. Let's face it as well Cashley won't put his hand in his pocket to replace him and now expect Enrique to scream even more with another top player leaving.

I can see where Cashley is coming from in a way, he wants the club to be sustainable but god knows how he got where he is being so ham fisted and having no back up plan.

I'm just miffed to be honest :(

He's talked himself way out of a job. I wish my life could afford to do that. He has a massive trap doesn't he and it screws my Fantasy Football plans up a bit too!

Sounds like Ashley was looking for a reason to offload his wages and got it. Can see a few more casualties and a very difficult season ahead for you.

Same.

Small squad, a lot of unproven cheese eating surrender monkeys, best players are very injury prone, no money being spent. Only reason I am not completely writing us off is Blackburn, Wigan, Norwich, QPR and Swansea are worse.

lol I thought he had changed and had morals but he is nothing but the same person he was years ago when he attacked about 3-4 men.

You should have heard his agent on talksport. What a goon he sounded as well, about at Bartons level to be honest. I'll try and get my hands on a recording.

Because he's spoken out against the board?

Should we be worried about Nolan, Enrique and Simpson attacking people now?

Is Ashley still looking to sell? I don't know how NUFC finances look, but it strikes me that he is trying to get them as far into the black as he can, whilst simultaneously driving down the wage bill, so he can sell a (for now) Premiership team as a going concern. With reduced debts, lower out-goings and their huge fan base investors might be more tempted to buy.

Do they have to pay his wages off or something, or was it mutual?

Depends. They could fire him for breaking the terms of his contract (which I'm sure he has after what he's said) in which case they won't have to pay him off, although he could take legal action against him.

If they've terminated his contract without good reason, they'll have to pay him whatever he's owed or at worst reach a compromise with him.

This isn't official though, is it? Officially he's still just available on a free transfer.

He's still a newcastle player...all that's happened is that he's been transfer listed. He HASN'T been sacked.
The OP is talking about the reports that have come out since the statement earlier, suggesting he's been completely released now following his latest tweets.

Yeah he is. But still asking for absurd money, his thinking seems to be more in black = bigger price. True to an extent but he needs a team to keep them up as well which he is really running it close to the wire.

We still need another striker, a right winger, another CM and probably a LB when Enrique leaves. There are some decent youth players there but you need experience like Nolan/Barton to bring youth through.

As I say I respect what Cashley is trying to do with balancing the books but to my mind he's going far too overboard selling/cutting wage bill that it's hurting the squad and rooting them in the bottom half of the table.

This. It may well prove false but there are rumours going round the net and Newcastke that he has been conpletely released. Sure I heard talksport saying that as well but I may have misheard.

Latest reports say they have completely released him from the club.

Not that I like self quoting :p

Title - "Newcastle Sack Barton" was what I was referring to, and:

Ok but the thread title was explained in the OP. The OP is talking about the reports that he's now been sacked and I assume that shami's question is in relation to those reports being true.
