I'm not a fan of the Magpies, but from what I can see one of the major influences for the clubs contiuned under-achievement is Alan Shearer.

Ruud Gullit confirmed that Shearer is a poisonous influence in the dressing room.

Although he is a Geordie Legend, and was a superb striker, his day is past as shown in his output this season of 4 goals in 22 apps in the Premiership.

I know he retires in the Summer, but for the past couple of seasons the most important thing for him seems only to be criticising the Manager, and breaking Milburn's record.

Im my opinion Ruud Gullit is a Knob. What does he know ffs.

With respect, Ruud Gullit is one of the best European players of the past 20 years, an integral part of the AC Milan that swept both domestic and continental honours.

I'd say he knows a fair bit about football.

And to top it all hes a proper role model, a genuine, honest and down to earth guy not like most of the current crop of "super stars" who have the biggest egos around

So was Mother Theresa, but she never played top flight football.

whats that got to do with being a manager? he was a very crap rubbish manager for newcastle end of story.

It has nothing to do with it - the comment was "what does Ruud Gullit know" - answer, a lot more than you.

Shearer - past it - FACT

I was simply saying it seems that Newcastle rely too heavily on him, and that he could be a contributary factor for their under achievement.

Name a big club in Europe with a 35 year old striker leading their line.

Souness, Dalglish, Keegan, Gullit, Robson - all had money to spend, and spent it poorly and hence paid the price - Shearer hasn't...

Totally irrelevant.
Daglish , Souness , Keegan and Hoddle were all top class players that have all failed at management level.

Totally irrelevant.

In fact, your retort is irrelevant, and somewhat childish, - I was talking about Ruud Gullit's opinions on another footballer - has absolutely nothing to do with his Management experience, or ability.

If you think that you, or indeed anyone else posting on here, myself included, know more about footballers than Dalglish, Keegan, Hoddle or Souness, you are more foolish than you already sound.

Yes, it was a was a question of could it happen - ie is that a likely situation or scenario, not would the FA allow him.

dont be fooled into thinking that because they are footballers they are uber experts on it, fans opinions are just as valid

Likewise, don't be fooled into thinking that because a Manager is sacked, his years of knowledge and experience become irrelevent.

Remember, Man Utd were on the verge of sacking Alex Ferguson back in 1986.

Of course your opinion is valid, as is mine. I opened the post, as a question to "football fans", asking if Alan Shearer had a detremental effect on the club - seemingly, the majority think not.

It doesn't make the suggestion proposterous.

That's what opinions / discussion forums are for - expressing your views.
