Hi all,

I've been wanting to build a PC for ages and now seems like the right time for me. I've been hanging around the forums for a few weeks to see what is popular at the moment. I've put a system togther and checked the compatibility myself, but could someone more experienced run over it for me.

It will be used mostly for gaming, video encoding and everyday general use. My budget is £1250 or there abouts. Any obvious changes I should make? I will probably replace the GT with the new GTS if it is reasonably priced.

Thanks in advance,

Nick:)

Hi, thanks :). Yes I probably would try overclocking to at least 3Ghz. Would I still get away with the 520? I'd probably go with that if I could.

You absolutely could. With the money saved you might upgrade the case to something like an Antec P182, or perhaps go with a better CPU cooler like the Tuniq Tower. Toward that end I suggest a different mobo, the Asus P5K. It'll overclock well and allow you to put the money elsewhere in the system.

Not really anything to do with the performance but I'd personally choose the Razer Deathadder over the Copperhead, the ergonomic design really makes long gaming sessions easier (I own both)... unless your used to a symmetrical design i suppose :)

I did consider the Antec P182, but I don't like the look of it really. The lian li seems good enough from what I've read. Also looked at the Tuniq tower, but I wouldn't be confident applying thermal paste, as this is my first time. Think I'd be happier with the pre-applied MX-1 on the freezer 7 pro, and as I'm not overclocking to the extreme it shoulde be decent enough. I picked the p5k-e because the wifi would be useful for me:).

I'll consider changing the mouse, picked that one purely on aesthetics. Any other tips?
