First of all I'm sorry with what has happened to your new build :( To say that you must be gutted would be a vast understatement on how you feel.

Secondly edit your post to remove the name of the place where you bought your equipment from and just change it to 'a different shop.' OC don't like the naming of other competitors within their forum - even if their equipment blows up...!!!!

Next on to your stuff...

No one will know for sure the extent of the damage but one thing that I wouldn't be doing is continuing to switch it on until you can inspect the components in more detail.

Providing that you are absolutely confident of your ability in that the system has been built correctly (no short with the motherboard to the PC case for example) then simply take the whole lot back to that 'other shop' and let them deal with it. After all it is new and if there are any issues with any of the components they can test / replace them as required.

I am reluctant to suggest that you could test each component yourself as you often need other known working kit to cross check the status of your suspect items. And if your motherboard has, for instance, got a continuing problem you don't want to risk frying some other piece of kit do you...?

Good luck :)

Thats real bad luck. I hate it when that happens.

A flash and smoke is never good, something is definately broken. Sounds like its either motherboard or PSU most likely. Like Vimes said though, it sounds like you might risk other parts if you try testing. Speak to where you got it from and start sending them some bits back

1 beep then 3 beeps means it's a graphics card problem. If you're lucky it could just be the PCI-E port that fried. If you have a friend with a PCI-E port then ask him if you could test your graphics card in his computer.

sorted it

Thanks for ll the help
yes it was the board pcie port mate came round and put his graphics card in no joy so spoke to sellers.(i remembered no names)
there going to change the board and graphics card to be on the safe side changing them monday spoke to a great guy straight swap helpful to boot as well..helped my case the mate who came round is a pc engineer id forgot about him....lol
