im currently using giganews and way looking for a cheaper option as i dont really need 200 days Retention etc.
is there anyone here thats using newshosting or newsdemon that can give me some info on what the service that they offer is like? download speeds etc

Considered PowerUsenet? They resell Giganews with less retention so you'll still get the excellent speed, reliability and completion. I've used NewsHosting in the past and was not impressed.

one of newshostings old plans.... 8 pound a month and get up to 2.4mb

Im on newsdemon very good for me so far have a europeon server and american SSL one but are soon to introduce a europeon SSL server. Always get my full 2.3mb/sec download speeds from them as well.

Sign up for one month then cancel and they send you an email saying they want your custom and will give you 10% from then onwards

I use Hitnews.eu, €18.50 for 3 months (€13.00 if you use the coupon DED32, offer expires 1st June).

They have ~100 day retention, maxes out my 20mbit connection no problem.

The top one, NHXL Unlimited, its only a few pence over a tenner a month and is SSL, 20 connections, and 110 days retention, also has a download accelerator (which ive never bothered to use as i get my max speeds anyway).

Personally I use Newsleecher and I know a fair few of the others do aswell, it's not free but it's probably the best around imho.

I used the trial of Newsleecher, then once it ran out i started using Alt.BinZ as its free, and works great.

Newsleecher is the best hands down, IMO. Very easy to use, with a great interface.
