Why on earth is it these days that people (including manufacturers) seem to like mixing up imperial and metric units by quoting power figures in bhp and torque in Nm. This really grinds my gears™, they simply do it to quote a larger number in the hope that people will be more impressed? Pathetic...

Long live lb/ft!!

It irritates me too as I'm used to Ft-lbs (PS isn't so bad because there's barely anything in the conversion) so I usually just bang the figures into Google, i.e "150nm ft-lbs" and theres usually a site with both figures ;)

I quote figures in NM becuase its a higher number and this makes me feel better.

It's like quoting performance figures for a car you are not insured to drive, and discussing it as 'your car' ;)

HI there

My car has 510Lb-Ft of torque, the NM figure I don't mention as it scares me too much. :D ;)

You can get google to calculate it directly, just type in "150 newton meters in foot pounds"

Most people use Kilo watts down here.

But i dont know Kilowatts! i know BHP :p

Its bloody annoying :p

BHP is what it should stay as as well as NM
