So the rumor around the campfire says according to ign.com

I think this will be very bad for gaming if all the best titles soon decide to become sub only.

What are you going to do? Not pay and miss out?

Next COD from Infinity Ward or Treyarch?

If its from IW then they can go jump.

Really really depends on what they offer, but either way I wouldn't pay since im already paying for Live.

I believe this is to combat piracy.. as the game will come with 3 months free play. But you have to put in valid card details to authorise your account.

No idea if it will work or not.. i didnt buy the last one anyway but i do think some measure like this are nessesary to combat piracy.

No this is a plan to just milk you of more money.. AND no doubt kill the 2nd hand market.

Problem is there's so much more money in it for them, it's likely they will give it a shot.

Link? The last I heard of this it was just an idea the idiot at Activision had - nothing had seriously been talked about. If they want to charge me on an ongoing basis they can go do one.

It has nothing to do with piracy imo. Its to rob people of more money. Didn't the game just make over 1 billion dollers? And why penalise ps3 owners because of piracy on the 360?

I like mw2 online but i dont play it enough to warrant paying a subscription. Would think twice about buying any xbox game that introduces this after paying for live aswell..

I don't play any MMO's but arnt' they subscription? How much to they typically charge per month?

MW2 is an overrated game, I wasn't planning on getting the next one so this change makes no difference to me.

Don't know why the masses eat it up, it's ridiculously average.

I only play online but the day it starts charging then I will simply spend my money on another game.

Im sure someone could make a similar game and take a fair share of the 1 billion they made ;)

On a serious note I heard it was just extras that you subscribed for. But even then I wouldnt touch it as it gives advantages to paying players and takes the fun out of the game.

Why would you mess around with such a winning formula when even when its glitched to hell people still play. Cant see it happening myself.

Typically around £8-10 a month, but they are worth it because you get great servers, 24/7 live tech support and massive content patches every few months.

I'd imagine COD would take your money and offer nothing in return.

I dont play mmo's either so certainly wont be buying or subscribing to them online either! We're not talking about mmo's, we're talking about xbox games charging to play online where previously it was free after paying for live. I like online games but its something I dabble in, therefore wouldnt subscribe because I wouldnt play them enough to feel I was getting my monies worth..

It'll probably happen, IW/Activision wouldn't have poured so much time and money into IWNet on the PC if they weren't planning on using it to implement something like this in the future. It also demonstrated to them they can gimp the game as much as they like, and still it will sell in the millions if they whip up enough hype beforehand.
