next gen AMD release

It depends. The Elite gamers out there are using 200-400hz monitors. To hit those kind of frame rates requires a bonkers fast system that leans entirely of performance of 8-16 threads from the CPU.
All to be beaten by kids with aim assist on crossplay consoles :P

But jokes aside, those people do need to calm down, that is pretty sad to buy a 400-500Hz monitor + a 5090 etc just to play some esports game to be able to have the edge to beat some teenagers/hackers online that are swearing at them in various languages :P

I play COD daily, but I would never invest that kind of money into a system if it wasn't also used for AAA single player eye candyfest/story driven games.

Those that are doing that but not actually competiting for real world fame/prizes, really need to just go outside once in a while and breathe some fresh air and get a life lol.

if ps5 is a car then it's a car with a basic amount of onboard entertainment
gaming pc is a private jet to entertainment island
If a PS5 is a car, it'd be a one where you choose whether you want to drive it in limp mode with flat tyres, or push it over broken glass with bare feet with the lights working ~ ala 30FPS versus 'targetted' FPS/VRR.

Stick your fidelity versus performance modes up your arse Sony! :D

Or a 14 year old Korean kid with reaction speeds that put ninjas to shame, playing on his mums Ivybridge laptop 12 hours a day.

"Put that down, we've got gaming PC's at home!"

But then the gamers will need 600hz capable CPUs or they’ll crying be into their wireless RGB keyboards again.

Just had a look and yeah, you can actually buy a 600hz monitor IRL…

Yep, the gamers are going to need Zen 6 V-cache overclocked to within a nanometer of its existence, then instantly jump to Zen 7 V-cache before Ze Chinese get here..

By the sound of it, your 'playing around' consists of overclocking? Something that doesn't really yield much of an interest nor gain these days.

I can't see what, if any real world benefits are to be had with something that high end, considering it's overkill in stock form for most people, and demolishes pretty much any task you give it.

Numbers on paper are one thing, but I haven't had the need to overclock something for over 10 years now :(
Undervolting however... :D
Don't really care about other people's interests, overclocking is just a personal interest, real world gains are yes minimal but there are still people who enjoy tweaking every last inch out of there system and the learning part is the best bit. There's always hardware out there aimed squarely at overclockers so there's obviously still interest. I dare say OCUK still make a lot of money out of 8Pack systems?? At the end of the day it's a hobby, not for all but for some. Why undervolt?? To save 50pence a year in electric or make a minimal gain within your system??

exactly we do these kinds of things because we enjoy it and its a learning experience at least for me anyway
thats my entire reason to be on this site tbh i dont need the performance i do enjoy reading and learning about it though
and the stuff that i can do i enjoy playing with a tiny bit its a hobby/interest
sounds like we are all on the same page roughly here :-)

Yeah, a lot of that hardware ends up being a con these days and doesn't deliver what it says, it's just lame branding by people no-one cares about. Then when said part doesn't deliver what it claims, it's palmed off as being the fault of another part, despite all parts being overclocking or gamer specific branding/featureset etc.

I doubt OCUK or their competitors, do sell as many pre-builts as you think - they're always mocked heavily for using a mix of cheap and good components, whilst overcharging.

I've seen many threads on here with people being disappointed, as with elsewhere with rival competitor builds.

The idea of spending twice that on flamboyant scene tax gamer/overclocked branded parts, is the last thing on most peoples mind, as those with budgets that stretch that high, tend to know what they're doing and build their own. So it's a minority of lazy buyers that do buy them. Certainly not a majority!

As for 8pack, we all know he's hardly the peoples choice these days and has a rather interesting past with conning people on various forums, and a laughable lack of due care and attention when it comes to safely packing goods... And that's aside from his text book narcissism ;)

Like you say, minimal gains and much wasted time just to get it stable. Whatever floats your boat though :)

Undervolting for me is nothing to do with saving money on electric, it's merely to have a nice silent system, with fans barely spinning, and a room that isn't a furnace. The idea of wearing headphones to drown out fans, it's pretty half arsed. So I'm not for any of that, nor coil wine.
