Now we have news that practically all the triple A titles from ps5 are being released on ps4 is quite dissapointing.

Had i known this i would have kept my ps4 and not bothered getting a ps5.

What for? Just to play at 4k 60fps?

Thats not enough of a reason to upgrade and move onto a new generation of games.

What happened to making use of RT? what about fast streamed games via the SSD? What about more fidelity? Better more sophistated subsumption ai npc's in games?

Larger player count or players/npc's onscreen?

More innovative ways, game designs etc for gaming?

Could GTA 6 for example render the whole of USA map using the power and tech inside next gen consoles?

THERE are soo much missing if devs continue to try and shoe-horn a game to run on last gen and next gen.

Any PC Gamer would tell you that if a game is trying to support older hardware, it ampers on the game driving forward innovative and `more` content /textures/npc's etc etc for people who have high end next gen pc's

WE never had this problem between ps3 and ps4. Games where made only from the PS4 from the get go!

i swear that even GT4? or GT5 was made as one of the staple games for when the ps3 first came out! none of this supporting ps2/last gen nonsense and what a game it was. It was mind blowing!

MGS, Uncharted, etc where all earlyish titles that came out for next gen consoles and not last gen and again, they are staples games.

wtf is sony and MS playing at?

These consoles are using the wrong vendor and use a GPU that’s a generation too old to effectively use Ray Tracing without enormous sacrifices.

Also, did you not notice that the pandemic happened? That put many software projects behind schedule by 1-3 years, and the hit to hardware supply also encourages supporting the previous generations.

Ironically though the biggest selling game on PS4 and 2nd biggest selling on Xbox One was actually Grand Theft Auto V which was a PS3/Xbox 360 game first; admittedly they did "enhance" the game a fair bit but it didn't feel like it was held back by its "previous gen" heritage.

It feels like Sony and MS are less interested in really pushing the console's but are happy enough to be hitting marketing buzzwords with the 4K / 60FPS/120FPS line.
I kinda get Microsoft; they're basically competing with PC (and trying to develop a big PC gaming operation of their own with Game Pass and the Bethesda purchase); but Sony always focused on console first; it is a bit odd to see something like Gran Turismo which should be at the cutting edge of what PS5 can do also getting a PS4 version; but then money talks and like p1RATE said there just aren't enough PS5 owners out there yet.

Did people actually believe that Sony were just going to leave the PS4/Pro behind? I'm more surprised Demon Souls remake hasn't been announced for the PS4 yet.

Man, people really will fall for anything if it's what they want to hear.

Btw, you all look handsome, today.

To be fair Sony did bleat on about how they “believe in console generations”.

A lack of competition and a monopoly between the big players in all tech areas, means they trickle along at a relatively low pace, content that there will always be owners of both to allow them to keep being profitable going forward. Look at Samsung and Apple for example. It's minor updates every generation. Console gaming is about making as much money as possible in the majority of cases and therefore we move forward slowly until something comes along to make huge leaps forward to push others. AMD has done this to Intel a bit lately.

They only launched about 7 months ago, there's a bigger market of last gen console owners...
So why diddnt they do the same thing from ps3 to ps4?

Having everything still coming out on ps4 makes gettinga ps5 useless as most console gamers honestly dont care about 4k 60fps.

Most console gamers dont even have a 4k Display i bet

Yeah Miles Morales, Ratchet and Clank and Forbidden West all look turd.
Shock horror, ratchet and clank is ps5 only....

Miles Morales lol it dont look any better than the original sipderman game. dont get yourself.

Forbidden west? lets wait and see as thats a ps4 port

Supply issues and cost has probably resulted in fewer PS5 players overall, so it would make no sense to focus on that console when they're still not freely available.

I'm glad I moved from PS4 to PS5.

The whole experience is infinitely better from a noise and UI point of view and to me, the fact that I can play my PS4 games on it is a bonus.

True, next Gen games will simply take time to filter through en masse and I'm fine with that.

So you are saying the existence of last gen didn't actually hold them back. I see.

This is where I’m at too. :)

Because the PS3 and PS4 are completely different architectures. You couldn't easily develop for both platforms simultaneously.

Now everything is on x64, it's very easy to support multiple console generations on a single project.

This. The experience is so slick on next gen consoles now, it's just so easy turn it on, and in a few seconds be straight into playing a game at solid 4k60 with no messing about.

Next gen exclusives are being made, but with the silicon supply meltdown, it would be commercial suicide for a lot of projects to exclude the PS4 and Xbox 1 user base right now.

MS pretty much said they where working on all gens for games.

Sony said " We only believe in gens" then after advertising that they backtracked, believe some have been calling them out on it.

It is holding them back, more so that Devs are being split up into teams to work on older Gens.
As said, they canty make the new consoles so are having to make bank on everyone that has an older system that cant buy new.

OP is exhibiting selective memory, there are numerous examples of cross-gen games from the PS3/Xbox 360 to PS4/Xbox One, including MGS.

Forbidden west? lets wait and see as thats a ps4 port

You keep saying this so you're going to need to cite your source that it is being developed purely as a PS4 title and then getting spruced up for PS5 later, because that's essentially what a "port" is.

Tbh i agree with OP. This is the most dissapointing console release ever for me. I went for the Xbox series X, zero exclusive release games for it just a few enhanced xbox one versions.
