The 5870 and 5870x2 will be out either late this year or early next. nVidia's offering will be sometime early next year as well.

Personally I decided to smeg waiting and buy 2 4890s now! :p

Prior to the release of the next gen, I will sell them on the bay and hopefully get most of my money back.

ok thanks a lot answered my question perfectly ;)

Guess its sell away away and buy sonething for the gap then.

More advice on which GPU to get? thinking of a 4890?

I doubt there will be any big drops this month but with the 5800 hopefully being released next quarter there could be prices cuts to clear stock in the upcoming months.

There's always something round the corner thou so now is probably as good a time as any.

The question we should all be asking ourselves is are there any new pc games coming that require such upgrades.

someone i know from france showed me of another drop in prices as of yesterday i believe it started and there was about another ten percent off.

from what ive seen new ati cards are september.

as for games there isnt anything that most reasonable cards wont play anyway other than crysis which unless you like looking at pretty sand and trees its pointless :D

im still toying with getting a 4870 1 gb card as so cheap or 4890 hmmmmmmmmm

screw waiting, get two HD4890s as the games won't be along till next year anyways I take it. that are decent enough to get

exactly,my 9800gtx+ runs any game i throw at it at max settings,at 1680x1050,whats the point of upgrading again, and i bet it will max out even call of duty mw2,

Been a lot of price cutting on ati's cards lately with more rumoured so i am not sure they are going to wait till sept, oct to release the 5xxx series as by some accounts they are all sorted and ready to be mass produced. From a business point of view it makes sense for an earlier rather then later release as they could have the first dx11 card and have the refresh of that gen ready to fight nv's next card. I still see july or august as probable release dates for the 5xxx series with an X2 varient in sept, oct.

early more like, I heard they was having issues(Nvida). don't qoute me on that through

so they still need to make the thing

Yep no games worth upgrading for at the moment, only few run like crap.. hence the reason i spent my cash on a SSD instead for now, later in the year should be a great time to upgrade

october - november
