when i got my nikon d50 about two years ago it came with a sigma 28 - 80 mm lens on it that was crap. I got rid and bought a nikon 18 - 135 mm lens from a member on here and its been pretty good for the last year.
I want to get another lens. ( seem to get one a year haha) and am looking at the 50mm 1.8f which seems to some quite well recommended. Is there any other lenses that I should be looking at that would be good? I don;t mind if it replaced the lens i have if it is miles better. up to 200 pounds please. i know not a good lens budget but i'm no way a serious photographer.

cheers

landscapes, buildings and cars :) don't do much action shooting really. I'd like to do some portraits which the prime would help with because i've read that it is v sharp

I'm not a Nikon guy but if it's anything like the Canon 50mm f1.8 then I'd go for that, really makes you think about your shots in a totally different way to a standard zoom.

If you like landscapes & building architecture, then you may want to try a wider angle lens eg. Sigma 10-20mm.

A 50 mm prime is fine, but you already have that focal range covered with your 28-80mm lens. Wide angle lenses can be very fun !
