Hi. Just after some ides/advice on what my next logical upgrade should be for my system I can't really afford to buy a whole new system so am pretty much gonna have to work with what I have mobo wise etc unless there are are any viable cheap options that anyone can give.

See my sig below for current spec

Thanks

Well at the moment its only really used as an internet machine but thats purely because it's not capable or running games decently. If I was to upgrade then I would be looking for a system that is going to be capable of running the latest games but as cheaply as possible. Christ I sound like a cheap skate but credit crunch n all lol

can the board take ddr2 800mhz, a dual core amd and a 4850 or second hand 8800gt/x or something from similar ranges? Sorry dont have time to google the board numebr to see what it supports.

You system is better than my current one, but I still have some games to play (ProEvo, Test Drive Unlimited, X3, GTA:SA, loads of RTS's etc), so you can keep yourself entertained whilst you save up for a new system. Even £500-£600 will get you something much better than your current system.

Start saving now, and look to get yourself a new system next year. If you can reuse your case and PSU, you've already made a start :)

Hi. Yeah the board is capable of taking all of those. But I don't want to be throwing money at dual core AMD's if it's not going to be lasting me that long if you know what I mean. I'm rapidly beginning to think that the Intel route is going to be the best option?

Yeah thats true. I think that the case is going to be re-useable but i'm not too sure about the PSU. It's a right dodgy one that came with the case. Only low wattage and likely to blow your hand off if you touch it lol. Although it is very capable of outputting 2W very reliably lol.

What do you use your system for & how is it fairing, e.g. find it slow, etc?

But, I'd get this & that. Might be cheaper in MM or auction site then sell what you currently have.

Well as I said above, the system is only really used as an internet machine at the moment but thats only because it's not really capable of anything else. I would like it to be a gaming rig really.

So you reckon the X2 AMD route at the moment then? Interesting.

Well, going Dual-Core & a new GFX (e.g. 4670) will see improvements in some games. Which games are you looking at & what's your monitor res?
