Next Sonic game to be called Sonic Unleashed?

It has been revealed today that Sega has filed a trademark for the name Sonic Unleashed, likely to be a new Sonic game for Next-generation consoles.

There aren't any details about this game and it's unlikely that Sega will announce anything soon, but we're hoping they'll ditch the adventure style Sonic and take it back to its roots with fast paced platforming action.

Ideal scenario - SEGA go back to their roots and make a 1080p beautifully animated 2-D platformer.

Predicted scenario - same old tosh.

What ever Sonic game it is, I hope it’s better than Sonic on the 360/PS3. Those speed run levels were terrible along with bugs the game had

Little Big adventure style Sonic Game would be awesome

All the sonic characters are playable, With levels similar to the original Green Hill, etc. But with a more 3D Feel, and completely multiplayer, with the need to work as a team to get to the end of a level.

For instance, Sonic Spin to move escalators, Tails helecopter to move over long gaps.

Yes, I want to develop that now

You just know they will start the press release off with ' sonic is all about speed' and then all the gameplay will go out the window and a 3d monster will be born.

But maybe, just maybe it will be good. A HD 2D sonic with good multi height levels, interesting bosses and fantastic music. Maybe...
