Hi all,
Just purchased some upgrades for my computer as it was feeling a bit worse for ware in some newer games. I was struggling to get a stable oc till some helpful people pointed me in the right direction! Now ive heard that my processor could be limiting me and am wondering what would be the next step to upgrading my computer? i have about £150 to spend ideally.

I'm running:

windows 7
gigabyte p35-ds3l
intel core 2 e2200 cooled by Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
4gb (2x2gb) kingston hyper-x 1066 ddr2
Vapour-x hd5770 at 945/1400
hiper 550w psu
Samsung f3 500gb hdd

If you need any more info just ask, any help is appreciated!

Thanks
Kayne

och its a P4

anyway moving on, you could get a E7400, and you would defo get a decent cooler as well with that, if your over clocking quite high

Ok, thanks. would that be a big step up from what i currently have or only minimal, for games and such? I don't want to move on to changing motherboard yet, as when i do that sometime next year possibly ill be building a new computer pretty much from scratch.

it depends if you wanna play crysis on full your looking at I7 rig

what screen do you have?

well i mainly play wow, tf2 and arma 2, im looking to be playing bf:bc 2 on full and a few other upcoming games. My screen is only 19", wont run higher than 1440 x 900

How far have you o/c the e2200 on the p35-ds3l?
What are you playing now and how much of an improvement do you want?

A little research on google will turn up some disappointing results for the p35 overclocking quad cores. Great for dual cores, but caps FSB too early on the quad.

Well im running the e2200 at 3ghz 280x11. Like i said, im mainly playing wow, tf2 and arma 2, just wanting to get the fullest out of what i have really. I was a little disappointed in the performance of the 5770 and was wondering if it was anything holding it back or I was just expecting too much of it?

You'll have to wait for the pre/reviews on BC2 and the associated benchies. At this moment in time we are awaiting the beta of BC2 to see how it runs on various H/W.

I hazard a guess, but you may have to stretch that budget if you want 'BC2 on full'.
