Next upgrade from a GTX970??

Can you hold off a little longer? With Titan V coming out it can't be much longer until the rest of the Volta cards hit the market. I'd guess at it happening before the end of the financial year.

If not then I'd be looking at used 1070s and 1080s as I'd be loathe to shell out full price for a card that will be replaced in maybe just a few months

but used cards often way over priced.
if happy to buy reference, nv do 1070 for 380 and 1070 ti 420 quid

Yes I've been looking and people still seem to be commanding top money for second hand cards, which makes me feel somewhat uneasy. TBH I think I'd rather spend £300 or under on a 980 Ti then nearly £400 on a 1070.

I upgraded from a 970 a couple of months ago with a second hand 1070 for £265. I sold my 970 for £150 as well so it cost me £115 for a pretty good upgrade.

I'm playing in 4K with mostly ultra settings and am more than happy with the upgrade. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a 1070.

Thanks again for all of the replies guys - while I was hoping to not spend this much I've been keeping an eye out for 2nd hand 1070's and even 1080's and can see a 1070 for £300 and a 1080 for £375 - is it worth pulling the trigger on the 1080 for that sort of difference?

*edit* In fact, is it even worth the extra or will my CPU become a bottleneck? (and for that matter, will my existing PSU do the job or will this sort of upgrade necessitate changing that too??)

I went 970 to 980ti about 10 months ago and I was pretty happy with the change. Unfortunatey, it looks like they have gone up since I got mine.

Edit - no idea what cpu or psu you have, but I would expect a 1070/180 to pull less than a 970 anyway

I've just gone up from a 970 to a 1070ti and have been massively impressed with the increase.

Managed to get £171 for my used 970 so the 1070Ti on black Friday wasn't too much of a sting.

Maybe see if the 1070Ti comes down to Circa £400 in the sales?

1070ti always an option.

Actually looking at prices way better idea to just go for a 1080 if your gonna spend that much.

The prices of the 1070ti is what I paid for my 1080.

This upgrade conundrum has me worried that nVidia aren't going to get Volta out any time soon...without AMD pushing them, they have absolutely no reason to cannibalise the margins they're making on the Pascal range.

Whether you're an AMD or nVidia fanboy, you should be praying that Navi is competitive.

My concern too.

I want a new GPU but I've waited SO long that we're pretty much near the end of the 10x series life span.

The way the pricing has gone this gen, its also quite rfustrating that we're still paying close to release RRP for cards this old.
