Nexus 5 dialpad issue

Hiya,

Just curious if anyone else suffers from the dial pad not being available during phone calls... originally I thought this could have been the way I covered over the proximity sensor with a sheet of tampered glass but I don't believe it to be the case because the phone was working fine before I updated to 5.1 Lollipop.

Anyone else been suffering with this?

Icon appears at the top? The whole screen goes black for me so I cannot access the top notification bar, if that is what you are referring to.

screen goes black, untill you tilt it back?

I've noticed the screen doesn't come back alive on mine when I take it away from my face mid call, but hitting the power button wakes the screen up again.
