Nexus 9 or Nvidia Shield

The recall affected the previous model with the stylus, NOT the shield tablet k1 which was only released recently.
You don't have a clue what your talking about."
All the reports I read said the shield tablet K1 has the problem. See
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2015/08/03/nvidia-shield-tablet-recall/1 Any units produced between July 2014 and July 2015 can have the fire problem. Units produced in 2015 can still be in stock in shops and be a fire risk.

“I'll rephrase so you can understand, I haven't seen you around for a few years, which is a good thing.
Please crawl back under whatever rock you've been hiding under. ”
Well I have been posting a lot over the years so I have no idea what you are on about saying I haven't been around. Most of what I said turned out to be correct even after people like you made fun me for what I was saying. The only people who need to crawl under a rock are people like you. All you do is attack people like me who are trying to help and as it turned out, I was correct both in this thread and most of the old threads.

The K1 is the one that has caused fires. When buying a K1 you should always double check which version you have

No,No thrice, no.

There are two completely different SKU's. The older affected one was Shield Tablet the newer being Shield Tablet K1.

You do know K1 is also the SoC which they both contain.

The K1, model NOT chip, was a redesign.

Simple.

EDIT I can see the confusion. There is the Shield tablet with a K1 and an almost identical tablet called Shield tablet K1. So when I was talking about the K1 shield tablet produced in July its not the same as the Shield Tablet K1. Still my point stands it worth double checking which shield tablet you buy from other shops. It could be very easy to pick up one of the older K1 based Shield tablets produced between July 2014 and July 2015 over the rebranded one. When talking about fire hazards its always worth being extra careful. I did mention in my posts I was talking about shops that hold 6+ month old stock of Shield tablets, not the new units. Sorry about the K1 confusion.

If you're buying the Shield Tablet K1 there is no need to concern yourself with this at all, they are NOT affected.

You can still buy the older model but it's £100 more just for the base version, which isn't worth it and I highly doubt anyone is going to buy one now, unless it's used on ebay.

You've wasted all of our time with this, because you were confused, not us.

You are just as much to blame for wasting time, at least I gave some good advice, all you did was call me names for giving good advice. You also appear to be confused as I was clearly talking about the 6+ month old K1 based Shield tablet.

The original poster was talking about shield tablets with no mention of the K1. I was trying to be helpfully by saying make sure you don’t get the old units due to the fire hazard as some places still have them in stock and in store. Then you came in acting like a child and calling me various things. All because I tried to warn someone to be careful about which version they buy as some places still sell the fire hazard version of the shield tablet which is easy to mix up with the new shield tablet as they are almost identical. The only person acting out of order here is you. Telling someone to be careful about which shield tablet to buy is reasonable and doesn't deserve the name calling I received from you. Despite what you said many shops still do have the old shield tablet in store and it is still up for sale.

NEW one has no stylus

OLD one has a stylus

New one is good

OLD one was recalled

I would get the Shield if you watch a lot of movies etc as the screen ratio is better compared to the N9 plus you can add a bunch of movies to a SD card and watch on the go like I do.

Well the shield has been known to cause fires and burn peoples homes so I would go with Nexus 9

You would be lucky to find one of them now as Nvidia recalled them all. Don't see why anyone would have kept them as it was a full recall.

Go for the New Tablet K1.

A lot of the smaller shops either didn't get the recall message or didn't bother following the recall. The big shops should have all done it but you can still find the older Shield units in some of the smaller shops in city/town centers. Without knowing which shop the OP is buying the Nexus 9 from I thought it was best to warn him. Who knows if he is using a well known branded shop or a local small shop. When I took the train down to Nottingham city to do my Christmas shopping a few weeks back I came cross a few of the older shield tablets in various shops.

Source or just speculation
Well the source is I am seeing old units in shops. But the reason behind that is speculation based on logic. I know messages sometimes get lost moving down the supply line and don't always filter down to every last little place. Some smaller shops still have units in stock so I came to the conclusion the message is either not filtering all the way down the supply line or they ignored the message. Could there be another reason I missed? Either way end users need to be careful.
