NFC passcards in a workplace

brb while I "loose" my work laptop. I've always wanted to "loose" my stapler too.

People lose laptops fairly regularly, I can think of at least three people I've worked with you have left them on a train or another one in the pub on some work drinks. None of them charged for a replacement. I've nearly left mine on the train a couple of times.

$5 for a replacement one at my job, unless its either stopped working or broken then they just replace it.

We had them at a couple of places I've worked, we weren't allowed to charged and we had big problems with people losing their cards. It became very apparent that some colleagues weren't actually making any effort to find missing cards and just asking for replacements. Others felt for some reason they needed more then one card and would report their's lost, to get an extra card, only to discover their first card had been disabled.

Hi Guys,

In my workplace we use NFC pass cards for clocking and also getting to secure areas. As some people have lost the cards my company has decided to charge £10 per replacement. Is this legal? Can this be reclaimed? Surely if nobody signed this in a contract they shouldn't have to pay for a company provided service?

scan the nfc card with with your phone, write that to another NFC tag (few pence online) and you'll always have a backup. :)

You have lost a piece of company property through negligence or incompetence. So yeah they can do that. My lto have something similar in places for mobile phones but we only ever executed it once to a guy that lost 4 in 6 months

Does anyone use fingerprint scanners for door access and if so is it more expensive to implement?

We use both biometric hand scanners and pin and a seperate card system.

Id imagine the biometric system would be more expensive than your standard card but not sure on costings. Get some quotes from a security installations company or buy them and learn how to install them
