NFL 2018 Season

I'm ready to toss the Bengals and pick a new team. It's like being a Newcastle fan twice over, perneial disappointment :p.

I wanted to get annoyed but I can't even summon up the energy anymore and they're only going to get worse as AJ gets older. I've said it for years, they need rid of Lewis and probably their GM as well as we tend to draft pathetically.

had a look and i'm quite suprised how good the bengal's regular season record has been 2009-2015, and lewis the longest serving head coach with the exception of Super Bill ?

my reference was at their current teams, mcarthy and peyton at the saints started in 2006, lewis has been at the bengals from 2003.

Yea, I'm wrong - my bad. I genuinely thought Lewis started a few years later, but he's been Head Coach since '03 as you say. I read an article about the pressure McCarthy is under and thought that stated he was the second longest active serving HC. Either that or I'm getting too old.

He's the bridesmaid and never the bride, don't think we've won a single playoff game in his tenure despite having two good QB's in Palmer then Dalton and all round good offences (Johnson, Johnson and Houzmanzedah as an example) they've just never had a good D and a bottlers mentality under Lewis.

Saying that they were hugely unlucky last year or year before when they hit the play offs in sparkling form then Dalton got injured in last regular season game and they tanked :(

Make Hue Jackson the new HC ? You could be the new Browns :D

you do know he wants the bengals to get BETTER don't you ? :D

come on the rams lol, reminded me of a practice game "ermm guys we're just running offence today, no defence"

plus sides:
we won
goff didn't throw an interception

negetive sides :
we needed big help from KC to win 5 turnovers and 135 yds  in penalties
yet again we had a wideout going against us who got over 200 yds and it was their main wideout so no real suprises :(

after watching Rams v Chiefs I still think the Saints are the best all round team

they seem more balanced than any of the other big scoring teams, hey also seem a bit more disciplined

He wanted the same with the Browns and look where that got him :p Hard to say as a Steelers fan, but the Bengals have too much talent to not be contenders each year. They should be doing better than what their record is.

I agree and that's why I blame Lewis, they consistently underperform. The organisation is seemingly happy with being *almost* good enough and they settle for that year after year.

Grrrrrrrr :p

thing is from 2009-2015 they've done well with only 1 losing season, i know as a rams fan i'd be very happy with that prior to Vay, but their problem is that during that period they never won 1 wild card playoff game.

Me too. Helps the Steelers :D

I still think it will be New England and KC in the AFC game. And hopefully Rams vs Saints in the NFC.

shame they can't help themselves :D

still wary of the rams making it to the championship final, and we have no chance of the superbowl if the saints get homefield advantage.

Yeah the Steelers are a bit Jekyll and Hyde. Never know which one is going to turn up :D One week great defence and poor offence, the next week vice versa. Not enough consistency. Shame about Bell not signing as Bell and Conner together would have been great to watch.

thing with the steelers is when their bad they are utter rubbish, doesn't seem to be a happy medium.

if bell had been playing though i don't think conner would have had the chance he's had.

just seen some of the highlights from the rams game, hill left wide open, and by wide i mean no one within 15ft of him for a 73yd touchdown, wish we had a defensive version of mcvay available :(

I was thinking more of the lines of both of them playing in the same formation. Maybe have Bell as a wideout as an extra threat and Conner in the backfield etc. Would take some of the attention off Brown and JuJu. Obviously won't happen now though unless the Steelers Tag him again at $17m which I doubt. If a Team with a lot of cap space comes in for him then he will be gone.

Watch out for the Bears though... They've led every game at the half, and their 3 losses have been very close. They play the Rams soon, that'll be an interesting one to watch.

I have always had a soft spot for the Bears. They were actually my Team back in the 80's when they had that awesome Defence. It will certainly be an interesting game in Chicago in Dec, especially if there is Snow on the ground. Just not sure they have the same firepower like the Saints and Rams. They have two great backs in Howard and Cohen though.
