NFL Draft 2016

what the hell have the Rams gone and done:

Tennessee gets: Rams' first-round pick (2016), two second-round picks (2016) third-round pick (2016), first-round pick (2017), third-round pick (2017).

Rams get: Titans' first-overall pick (2016), fourth-round pick (2016), sixth-round pick (2016).

We're in so much trouble for the next 3 seasons with this :(, makes the loss of our cb's to free agency even worse.

Doesn't seem like a great deal to me. It was always going to be expensive jumping that many picks but the Rams should have tried to spread the hurt out over more than 2 years.

What's the point of getting the QB you want if you give up all your 2nd and 3rd round picks that were crying out for a much needed WR?

The Titans already have their franchise QB so aren't in the market for Wentz or Goff. Surely then it would make more sense (and be cheaper) to trade up to 2. Unless the Browns made crazy demands.

we're going to be putting in a rookie qb, behind a poor offensive line, and with no help out wide.

i can imagine the browns would go for something similar, so pretty much no difference.

i'm just so disappointed they've done this, from what i've seen i don't rate goff or wentz highly enough to give away what we have.

all i can think is fisher has done it to try and keep getting sacked at bay, seriously if we don't make the PLAY OFFS, i'm not just settling for a winning season after this, then fisher has to go.

browns weren't trading out I bet as they're after one of the 2 qbs

now they might if they rate 1 of the qbs a lot higher than the other, but probably weren't before.

i think they will have been listening to offers, finishing as low as they have wasn't all down to the qb, so if they had a decent offer ala titans they could well have gone for it.

i've not seen anything about the top 2-3 qb's even close to that last year with winston and mariota, so i think good deals would have been worth taking.

Well now the Browns have traded out with the Eagles down to 8.

Browns gets: Eagles first-round pick, third-round pick, fourth-round pick (2016); first-round pick (2017); second-round pick (2018).

Eagles get: Browns first-round pick (2016); fourth-round pick (2017)

Not as expensive as the Rams deal, but is expected for a smaller jump up in picks.

I don't watch college football so I don't really know Wentz and Goff beyond a few youtube highlight videos and the combine, but I must be underestimating them both given teams seem to really want them. Good news for RGIII I suppose, at least he should now start for the Browns. Unless they go for Paxton Lynch at 8 (which would be too early for him in my opinion).

It is probably a good deal for the Browns as they don't have the best luck at drafting 1st round QBs and the extra picks should give the whole squad a boost in quality.

As for the Eagles, they still need a running back with DeMarco gone.

As we are now 1 week from the draft I think I've finalised my own Steelers mock draft.
R1 P25 O25: William Jackson III CB
R2 P27 O58: Keanu Neal S
R3 P25 O89: Willie Henry NT
R4 P25 O123: Daryl Worley CB or Deiondre Hall CB
R5 no picks
R6 P45 O220: Keyarris Garrett WR
R7 P8 O229: Tyler Johnstone OT
R7 P25 O246: William Stanback RB

I'm happy with the 1st 3 picks and would be happy with either Worley or Hall in the 4th.

As for the sixth and seventh round picks I've no idea and just went for position of relative need.

The only real negative about the selection above is that I ideally would have drafted a tackle earlier (I planned to get one in the 4th) but there wasn't really any available. Johnstone in the seventh I suppose gives a bit of depth.

I'm also not going to be able to watch this years draft live as I can't get Friday off as I have a work thing to do, boo. I may record it and then get up at 4am to watch before work or something :D

Well I was wrong about Keanu Neal being picked by the Steelers in the 2nd round as he went 17th overall :o

I'm not particularly happy about the Steelers drafting Artie Burns at 25, he is very much a 2nd round talent. His speed is average, with poor vertical and broad jumps. Cornerback who can't jump doesn't fill me with confidence. Waste of a pick to be honest, should have gone best player available rather than reaching with Burns.

I don't get the Bengals drafting Jackson III at 24 either. The Bengals have already drafted two cornerbacks in the 1st round in the last 5 years, plus they have pacman Jones as well. Why do they need a 3rd 1st round corner?

They have bigger needs than CB at positions where higher rated players were available.
LB - Myles Jack and Reggie Ragland
DT - A'Shawn Robinson and Jarren Reed

Seems like the Bengals doing it purely to spite the Steelers which makes them sound a little bitter to be honest.

Oh and just so no one is under any illusions, whilst I accuse the Bengals of possibly being bitter, I am fully bitter that we didn't draft Jackson as I was really high on him :D

I was surprised the Cowboys didn't draft Ramsey, I thought corner was a bigger need for Dallas than RB and Ramsey looks really special. Elliott seems like a Jerry Jones pick rather than a scouts/coaching staff pick.

Myles Jack - injury issues.
the other 3 - well no one has touched any of the Alabama guys. News about Ragland health came out just before the draft which probably meant some teams cooled of him. with the passing league as it is now, you can never have enough bodies in the secondary. :)

p.s. still don't get the giants pick, lol

i have no idea wtf they are smoking in the rams war room, but drafting 2 tight ends , neither appear to be of any use blocking basically ex-wr's playing at tight end.

not sure why they did that then got cooper as a wr, if your going for aerial targets why would you go with someone thats under 6 ft ?

i hope i'm wrong and this works out, but for me its a bust of a draft, added to the picks lost with the trade up and i'm not even sure we can get rid of fisher next season, who'd want to come :(.

Overall I'm quite happy with the Redskins draft. I don't really follow College football very closely, so have to rely on what I read about these guys, but Doctson seems to be a very popular choice at WR and Su'a Cravens is being rated well. I also quite like the look of Matt Ioannidis (DL) they took in the 5th.

Opinion seems to be maybe only Doctson and Cravens will contribute much right away, but there's a lot of talent taken that should come through in time. Add to that we picked up 3 more picks for next year to help cover a lot of our guys being FA's and it seems Scott McC is still guiding the team the right way.

still can't get over the fact we wasted so much of the draft to get a qb who isn't set to start the season, it makes no sense sacrificing that much for someone who isn't going to start game 1.

wish they'd got rid of fisher instead :(.
