NFS carbon help!!

okies, my mate over in europe is having some trouble with NFS carbon and other games

basically his problem is that he can play games for about 30 seconds but then the pc will freeze/lock up/crash down totaly and he has to force restart.

no bluescreens. his system is

athlon 64 4400+
2 gig ram
7900 GTX
(think he has a 450w psu... he dont know how to find out and i cant be bothered to explain to him how to find out)

thats all i got, he is using XP and everythign is pre setup. all drivers are updated. i told him to reinstall all of his games but it hasnt made no difference, and without actually being there, i simply cant see whats going wrong, so if you lot got any ideas, do let me know and ill pass on the information.

has he tried updating the patch for game

1.3 i think atm

he told me that ingame he is shown 1.2 and when he clicks update it say no new ones released, so i got him doing a search on filefront just incase.

but bearing in mind, this is with other games as well

mine was doin that showing as 1.2 even thoi opened the updater

i fixed in end, forgot how to do it though
