get most wanted. complete it (it really isnt difficult)
by then you will have saved enough for carbon. complete it (will take even less time)

then buy a 360 and forza 2 when they are cheaper? ;)

Yea lol, I accidentally posted this in the wrong forum... Dont know how, either way its on all platforms anyway...

Might try forza 2, but maybe when its a bit cheaper, not wanting to pay full price for a racing game.

in that case may i also pimp Flatout UC to you sir? try the demo on live, its fantastic :D

most annoying thing in MW is having to intentionally annoy the cops to raise your wanted level. Just spend ages driving around trying to ram stuff and then hiding behind bushes etc to get away. Didn't like the team element of Carbon as they seem more of a hindrance than a help half the time. Drifting feels awkward compared to NFSU2.

I played the carbon demo from the xbl marketplace and the team element seemed really tacky, carbon seemed less conventional NFS and most wanted seems more conventional NFS, or at least NFSU (which was when the franchise really got me interested). Also I wasn't sure on the whole 'territories' thing.

i just finished carbon last night. Have to say after having completed need for speed underground 1 ,2 and most wanted, its a bit of a let down. The car choice is far too narrow and the game was too short.

Basically in most wanted you change your car quite a bit, to keep up with the pace. In Carbon there is tier 1, 2 and 3. And thats it. You choose a discipline (ie exotic, tuner or muscle) and theres only really 2 cars per tier of your chosen discipline. I went for tuner, and went from RX 8 to RX7 to Skyline. And used that up untill the very end when it just wasnt fast enough to beat darius. Handling was ramped up to the max, but the acceleration and top speed wasnt enough for the canyon run with no nitrous to give me that extra boost to keep up. Also the game was over so fast for me, because there is only 4 bosses to beat. In Most wanted theres 15. And the targets were more diverse. in Most wanted you had to win x races, get x bounty and x rep. It wasnt just win 3 races then go and beat the boss. You really had to work the freeplay mode to get on. In Carbon you can just play using the pre allocated races.

Also, i never personally went above Police level 2 in Carbon. You dont have to have massive battles with the police if you dont want to, but in most wanted you have to. You had to have so much bounty on your head with the police before you could progress. It was just unavoidable, and towards the end the police cars turn into corvettes, the chopper comes out, the spike strips come out, etc.. it gets heavy.

Seriously. play most wanted. Its by far the better game. Then play Carbon, the "canyon run" mode forces you to play without nitrous and you cant touch the edges as you fall off the cliff ! and they brought back drift mode from underground !

oh and tute. While we're posting screenshots of our NFS:Carbon cars. Heres the car i ended up with. Managed to overtake darius in the first run on the canyon run and ended it within about a minute ! They didnt have the 722 edition SLR. So i made one :D

I didn't get that discipline thing - my first two cars were tuners (RX-8, RX-7) but then I switched to an Exotic (the Mclaren I think) towards the end. It's not like the game locked me into one discipline, either there was a bug or was I missing something?

no

thats what i mean

they didnt "lock" you into a discipline you could choose between the 3. But the problem was the whole tier thing

because you had 2 cars per discipline, and one tier. I means that you got 6 crap cars to choose from, you win and get to tier 2, then you've got another 6 crap cars to choose from. Granted you didnt get them all at once, so it was gradual , but i didint find enough improovement between then. Either drop the whole "disclipline" thing and just gradually introduce more cars (ala most wanted) or have more tiers and more cars per discipline.

Gave most wanted a go last night, enjoying it and it should last me a while, its not a game I'm going to play all out, so the 15 blacklisters will keep me occupied for a while.

Need to get more customizations unlocked! :)

Very nice sir. :)

I would've gone for the Merc myself but I preferred the look of the Carrera. Doesn't matter, it wasn't hard to beat Darius in the Carrera anyway. ;)

Oh, and I completed the game exactly the same way as you - RX8, RX7, Skyline. But I did find that the Skyline was fast enough to beat Darius. Sure, I had to go all the way to the bottom, but I got him.

And I think I still have my copy of Most Wanted here somewhere, you know how to turn off catch up logic?

And also, there's too few police chases, and then there's too many. MW just really overdid it. Sure, having 15 bosses is nice for longeitivity, but spending half an hour goading and getting the police to chase you to have it ended by a glitched spike trap is a bit soul-destroying. :(
