Can anyone comment on these 2 games? Are they similar in play style? I played Race Driver few years ago and although the graphics was not good even for that time you could feel the difference in handling between different cars. I have always seen NFS as a very arcade type game but don't really have any experience to base this on. Any comments if I have to chose between these two?

Will spend some times with the demo's but just wondered about other peoples opinions.

I love both. Both have different qualities to them. NSF is the closest that this series has come to read driving but I would favour GRID over NFS Shift. Just my opinion and I expect others will have some too :) Tried rFactor or Forza?

Forza is not an option for me - only have a pc and playstation 2. The PS2 is in the stashed away though probably a bit dusty by now. Will have a look at rFactor as I have not really done anything. Just so frustrating tonight as my landline is not working:(

I played the Shift demo and hated it, even after I changed the controller settings it still felt horrible.

Grid on the other hand is great. Lots of cars, lots of game modes, lots of fun. :)

Anyone using a wheel with these 2 games? I have a Logitech Driving Force Pro that I need to start using again.

GRID is much much better IMO, GRID 2 with DX11 but no ETA will be good too i think.

I use a 360 pad and it works fine, my mate uses a logitech G25 and that works fine too.

NFS:Shift is definitely the most realistic NFS game. And it's very good. Grid however is also very fun. Currently, I prefer Grid over NFS:Shift.

But like I said, they are both great games.

prefer GRID over Shift...but Shift is a brilliant game in its own right...best NFS title since Most Wanted I feel...

The good news for me is that GRID is available for £9.99. Will pick up a copy later today.

GRID is an arcade racer were physics only makes a passing glance at reality, having said that, it's great fun, looks great and I throughly enjoyed completing it.

NFS Shift is not a simulation, but is far more realistic handling than GRID with all the assist off. It also looks great and I am throughly enjoying the game and the Overclocker Time Trial Challenge http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18059595

NFS Shift works well with a wheel with a few tweaks and that's how I play it.

GRID doesn't work well with a wheel, at least not all the things I have tried, so I played it with an Xbox 360 pad.

Overall I would recommend both games, as they offer different experiences.

Both fantastic games. Can't go wrong with either. I'am loving need for speed shift more though. The driving physics are better, as in more realistic. There's also a tonne of tuning options. But the main thing about shift is it gives this massive sense of adrenaline that no other racer has given me, It really does the whole making you feel like your driving a performance car at 150mph and simulates the fragility you would feel at that speed.

No idea what grid was like online, as I never played it online (rarely do with racers, I find AI more enjoyable for some reason), but shift is terribad online. For the simple reason that other players seem to like shunting you off the road rather than actually racing against you. Totally unplayable.

Ended up getting both. Had a gift voucher I had forgotton about for Shift and GRID was only £9.99. Will try them out tonight. Thanks for all the opinions.

Both have their good points. NFS is a bit more realistic and I liked being able to tune my cars up Gran Turismo style. But I had more fun playing GRID.
