NHL 16

Fired up my legacy edition today for the first time as didn't get home until late last night, straight into HUT and see I've got 15 packs waiting for me :)

Didn't think we got any pre order bonuses or anything here so that was a nice surprise, only opened 3 as the consumables have tripped their limit, so will have a play with the players have got so far then open some more as time goes on :)

Got a couple of decent enough players out the packs for playing at the lower levels, and as a Caps fan was happy to get a Burakovsky :) Andrew Shaw and Teräväinen also pulled who haven't seemed bad at the level I'm playing at anyway.
 
No idea will have to take a look later, only tend to play hut!

I know it's only just been released but already feels like the legacy edition is not going to be as 'busy' as the next gen releases but hopefully be enough people playing so that the prices and selection of players available isn't silly.
 
I've had no packs and nothing but garbage. Spent a few games with the trainer on trying to get the hang of this pass aiming but keep falling into old habits and throwing away chances to stupid icing calls.

The poke checking is really annoying, it seems that every poke check I make trips a player. Also, goalie hitboxes are insane. The amount of wide open goals I have missed because a shot on net has been deflected by the space where a catcher or blocker would have been.

All very frustrating. There is a lot I like in the game but there is a lot of things they added which just really mess the game up.

AI defense in the slot is stupid as well. These long reach passing lane blocks are really boiling my blood
 
So last NHL game I played was NHL on tne pc and tbat must have been back in 2006?? I think , every year I look at NHL games and never purchase. Thought, nah I'll have another go this year. Wow. Have these games changed since last one I got..

Graphically its very good, struggled with ds4 stick shooting at first. But when I finally got the hang this is a good game.. I like it.
 
Quite enjoying NHL 16 so far, apart from a few bugs which I've found (Skater getting stuck in a position and just gliding down the ice on his side) and a lovely bug which doesn't track an EASHL game (had to not track the game where I scored twice as defense!)

EASHL isn't bad, although offense players need to learn to pass to the defense when their wide open instead of just passing to the other team...
 
EASHL is a total mess really. everybody is puck chasing, nobody plays position correctly and the passing is atrocious.

been playing some HUT games but have yet not managed to play a game free of lag.
I think they should just cancel the game if it detects a poor connection rather than forcing you to play till the end. I had two sitters scored on me yesterday because a poke check happened about a second after I input the command.

Never had this happen on NHL15 so can only assume it is a 16 issue. :(
 
I've only been playing HUT but I'm very much enjoying the gameplay this year. It feels a bit slower and I've struggling to beat players but I'm having good fun. Won my last 3 games in a row which is rare for me too :)

Yup find the same thing with EASHL, I usually pick right defense every game and stick to my position as I know the other defender will go attack and leave the goalie on their own.

Also noticing the slight lag with online games, well, its not lag but there's a stupid delay in the actions which gets annoying when trying to shoot.

Been getting the same feeling but put it down to having a fairly stacked HUT team last year and being used to having players like Pavel Datsyuk and Jamie Benn on my team who can get the jets on when needed. This year I have just made do with two purchased gold packs and the 10 'welcome back' packs which yielded nothing higher than an 85. My team is around a 4 star right now with no superstar players as they are holding their value well at least until the first wave of special packs are launched.

I am not putting any money into it, spent about £15 last year so trying to just play it without investing despite constantly being pitted against other players who have clearly smashed £50+ into HUT packs and have 90+ defence on every line and Price/Quick/Lundqvist in goal. Meanwhile, I'm crying into my cereal with Bernier and Niemi as my starting goalies who both have the same netminding credentials as a slice of swiss cheese...

thats the thing, playing online you go back to a local game and the smoothness is shocking in comparison. never had this problem with 15. :(
 
Arggh... what the hell was going on with NHL last night..

Either game would crash to xbox desktop, game would kick you out when teams were selected, would sit on "waiting for player" after the commentators started and just froze for me mid game where for once I was playing well! :mad::mad:

Enjoying EASHL more than season or be a pro mode but that just got frustrating.
 
I had the best night so far on it last night [ps4]

Played a HUT game where the opponent quit in the 3rd because he couldn't break through my blue line. I was practising defensive plays against him and not even really trying to score.

Played two games of EASHL, really annoyed that the stats didnt get counted for the first game as I played LD and scored 3 goals and 4 assists. The second game was a win as well but I didn't get it counted.

also scored this ripper which I was rather happy with.


hitting the crossbar twice in one shot :D
 
Was a huge update on ps4 last night. No idea what it did, but it was over 2 GB in size. Still, enjoyable game, but I do suck at face offs, and man do I get off sided a lot lol
 
faceoffs.

pull stick sideways to the forehand side
(right for a left handed player / left for a right handed player)

then rotate to the 6 o clock position when the ref drops the puck. works most of the time unless the other player knows to tie you up or stick lifts you.

noticed that on a few games now where blocker side seems very weak for a lot of goalies. nice goal though
 
Any idea how to do the single hand hold off move? As in when the player keeps the puck away but with one hand. Could never do it in NHL15 :( Although could be cause I'm using the buttons layout to pass etc
 
Had a funny HUT game earlier, felt kinda bad for the guy.

I scored first, he equalised, I scored again, he equalised then got 2 more (I had some questionable penalties that resulted in two 5 on 3s to him).

Then in the last 40 seconds I got 2 to draw level, both goals pretty much carbon copies of each other (won face off, pass to left winger who took it for a bit then wristed it top corner).

No goals in OT then I beat him in the shootout, final shootout goal (I was already one up) I just skated in a bit then belted a slap shot in the top corner :)

Can still tell there's not as many people playing the Legacy version but not too fussed, not enough to buy a PS4 yet anyway.

Happy enough with my little team, just need to get some pucks together for a few more decent players :)
