** NHL & Ice Hockey Discussion **

I detest the panthers but watched every single one of their games throughout the whole stanley cup, mainly in the hope someone filled in Tkachuk. I felt the winner was always coming from the East so watched pretty much all of those games apart from the Jets because of Monahan. Florida really should have swept the oilers and got away with it in the end.

New season is almost with us, exciting times. Should be a few matinee games to catch. I think I'm too old to be staying up late this year :D
My NHLTV just renewed. £91 to watch as many games as I want is an absolute bargain.

Preseason for MTL has been an absolute nightmare. Finally have two lines and a AHL scrub wiped out Laines knee and Reinbacher did his knee in a nothing challenge about 4 seconds into the game. Ref did sod all about Laine getting kneed so Arber took matters into his own hands, worth every penny of the $3000 dollar fine.

The bend on the knee, he's lucky to not have a season ending injury.

Last night was equally as messy, poor hit to the head on Dach and so again Arber went for revenge and will likely miss a few games now.

I've always liked Laine, I don't think he's ever managed to reach his potential due to injuries and other things so this is a real shame. I hop he recovers well.
Had NHLTV years ago and it was great. But sadly don't get time to watch full games due to a 3 year old. Still catch the extended highlights on YouTube and the odd matinee on Freeview. Not checked if there will be any on there this year but previous years one of the channels had the odd game.

I still don't think he will ever reach his potential but we needed another focal point even if he got 25 it would have been a push in the right direction. He only has two years on his deal so can be cut if required instead of extending. I like this period of the year, because I watch the replay 90% of the time I have to avoid all forms on social media until I watch the replay. It's a nice head break from the internet :)

Just looking at the Rangers schedule for sneeky trip to New York, but they are off to a great start apart from Florida upsetting the party again.

On a side note flights to Vegas seem super cheap as well and my American colleagues tell me its a really good show so that's tempting.

They should all be wearing neck guards really. There's been a lot of close calls. I'm surprised more don't even wear the kevlar socks given the achilles that have been sliced in the past. You'd think it wouldn't make much difference to normal equipment.

I mean yeah it's a bit stupid not to wear it as a precaution but the one above it wouldn't have helped...

I've got back into the NHL this year after a gap of 10 years or so. Most of the sites I used to use for NHL news/analysis no longer exist. Are there any you would recommend?

It's quite rare that I find a player that's still playing from the last time I watched heavily, but on the plus side, at least Don Cherry isn't doing Hockey Night in Canada anymore.

I mainly use sportsnet/tsn and the athletic for news websites and twitter. Most of the content I consume on youtube is Habs specific content. The issue I have really is not having too much of that stuff give me notifications and spoil a result. It's quite a good online detox if I have to wait until the next evening to watch the game, I stay away from the internet until I've caught up.
