** NHL & Ice Hockey Discussion **

Looks like Kane is fully cleared, looking forward to the Blackhawks season.

wheres that been said? can't see any mention of it.

I know that the prosecuting attorney bailed on the case but thats the last I heard.

He's an absolute POS. I wish the NHL would take a firmer approach to players like this. The trouble is, he will be back on the ice mid season and do the exact same thing again.

edit, derp. same video.

he's at San Jose. Its hardly a shining beacon of vibrant tradition and hockey culture.

such a crap franchise.

that is excellent commitment. I have booked tomorrow and Friday off. Gonna watch the Hawks smash the Rags tonight and hopefully Flyers upset Tampa on Thursday.

This is why I support an east coast team. Staying up for west coast games must really suck. Even Saturday Matinee games must be on at daft times for you lot.

It was very close. Blackhawks defenseman didn't seem too on point.

The Habs leafs game was excellent. Leafs goalkeeping is crap but the rest of the team seem to be rocket powered since they got Babcock

GCL is the best way of doing it. £90 for all season + playoffs plus £1.30 a month for an adfreetime sub so you can get around blackouts (useful if you want to watch US Netflix too)

Season opening thoughts guys?

I've only watched Leafs, Devils, Jets and Flyers so far.

This 3on3 overtime is nailbiting stuff. I'm delighted with how hard we took it to Tampa. We look like a totally different team. Seems our new coach is really doing some good stuff.

If anyone missed it, just go and watch the 3on3 OT of the Flyers and Lightning game. I was screaming at my TV at 4am. My neighbours have told me they are unhappy.

just use adfreetime? its £1.30 a month and takes no time at all to set up.

the Lightning Bruins game was brilliant. Brian Boyle put in a solid performance.
I can see Tampa in the Eastern Finals again this season.

after we got thrashed by the panthers, I was wary about starting Michal Neuvirth in goal but the kid got a shutout on his first start for the Flyers.

I would really like to see some goals from Voracek and Giroux though.

Loads of good matches tonight, may catch some Tampa Detroit. Interested to see the Pens against the Habs too

I've been thinking the same. You guys looked blistering in pre season. admittedly I havent caught any of your games, but tracking the scores and the odd recap I just cant understand whats going on.

Its early days though, I wouldnt get too worries just yet.

Woke up at around 3pm this morning and couldn't sleep so ended up watching the last two periods of Hawks Flyers just as Giroux banged in a 2nd for us.

Very happy with that result.

Sharks are firmly under that category. I always considered them to be a bit of a joke shop but they are looking strong out of the block this season.

as I say though, it is early days.

Devils Rangers was a delight to watch.

the devils are so monumentally crap, its like watching an AHL team. They are very out of their depth.

if it wasnt for Palmieri and Schneider, I don't think they would have won that one.

Ducks having Getzlaf out for 12 or so weeks is going to be tough.

after the delight of beating the rangers, losing to the sabres last night was a rough one.

the send off for Briere was nice though.

I've only watched 2 ducks games this season and both of them had one stand out factor: movement out of their zone and speed in mid ice. As soon as they get a breakout or turnover opportunity they would make the pass or chip at it and not carry the puck with seemingly any urgency between the blue lines. Watching a team like the Habs shows just how badly the ducks are currently approaching an attacking play as a unit and not capitalising on things like line changes and PK from the other team.
I don't watch them.often enough to say that it is an inherent problem but it was a factor in both games I watched and I felt it contributed to the battering they took on the scoreboard.

just caught the blues game in condensed version. looked very intense. I know i harped on about it last year but I really do believe that Tarasenko is going to be a huge force to be reckoned with over the next few years.
It is like watching Fedorov in terms of his movement and play style.

It is actually refreshing to watch a team working with nice unit movement and executing plays nicely.

After watching the diabolical play of the flyers this year, watching games that arent dump and chase turnover fests is a welcome thing.

i dont know who is worse at the moment.

flyers or the ducks.

this season is proving very difficult for me to watch.
