NHS text moan

Had a text yesterday from NHS saying I have an appointment next week! Which department??? Nothing mentioned. As I’m go to three departures in three different buildings! Never received the letter (yet). Normally get letter in good time unless someone from hospital contacts me saying they have a cancellation would I like it - which is a few days later.

It would be nice for the NHS to disclose the dept or consultant’s name in the text so know which building, how long to expect to be late (as one of them it’s a miracle if there under 3 hours). At least I have the text as a proof of appt!

Letters do get lost in the post. So having to waste goodness knows how long to find out which dept it’s is by contacting the hospital appt line. Sometimes get cut off if too many people are in the queue.

Sorry for the rant. Others will be in the same position!

Letter could be stuck in the post. We've had issues locally since end of August with Royal Mail being short of posties dues to illness and shielding. People have missed appointments as a result as they weren't registered for the text reminders, so be grateful for at least knowing you need to turn up.

Post your full medical history here and we can take a guess.

How many will be struck off due to this?

Only GP practice appointments

Other services in the NHS App
If your GP surgery or hospital offers other services in the NHS App, you may be able to:

  • message your GP surgery or a health professional online
  • consult a GP or health professional through an online form and get a reply
  • access health services on behalf of someone you care for
  • view your hospital and other healthcare appointments
  • view useful links your doctor or health professional has shared with you
  • view and manage care plans

Says it does more than just GP appointments, i've not got any upcoming hospital appointments to check though :p

I occasionally get texts from NHS about appointments, unlike your one they will say, an appointment has been scheduled for you at Blank Dept at St. Thomas’s Hospital on whatever day at whatever time, Blank Dept is on 4th floor Lambeth Wing.
Below this it will say,
Don’t recognise this appointment? Click here,
or,
Wish to reschedule this appointment? Click here.
Prefer to speak with someone? Call 020 7188 1234

Wow OP, you sound such a barrel fof laughs. I do hope you feel happier soon, as Worthy said you sound so unhappy.

As for other people re the NHS app. I have an appointment Friday with the hospital so just logged in to see if it showed it, and it doesn`t seems to only be if it was a direct refferal from GP. (Mine wasn`t it was reffered from another department within the hospital) So yeah doesnt seem too, but would be ace if it did.
