NHSmail - Largest Exchange 2007 Server in the World

My other half is always telling me how bad it is getting simple IT problems fixed. I understand having central support for such a large organisation is going to be a nightmare, but it really does seem a joke sometimes.

I'd concur with what you say.... Although the departments are often underfunded and understaffed as well.

While yes it seems a lot, however that will take into account growth over a period of 5 - 7 years which tends to be the norm for server replacements.

Kimbie

3-5 years is the norm........

However, if you can get a deal on maintenance you may see 7, but it is rare.

In our IT centre we have 3 x 1st line support, 2 x second line, 2 x networks, 1 x phones, 1 x resource allocation manager, 2 x service desk managers and about 20 contractors who handle all the GP practices......yea I'd say we are understaffed.
