Nice little upgrade.. 911 turbo :)

I am not aware of any Gen 2 engine failures

Me neither, heard a couple that supposedly had bore scoring, but nothing concrete, without doubt a far more reliable design for sure.

Though I do think Porsches biggest issue was the 2yr/20k interval for oil changes.

I suspect if it was 1yr/10k they'd have being less failure for sure on the older engine.

My fathers has been checked for bore scoring and it was perfect. He also spoke with lots of people such as Hartech and others about Gen 2's and found no one who knew of a Gen 2 failure or an incidences of bore scoring on a Gen 2, including Porsche. He is an engineer by trade and used to build engines so is a bit anal on this stuff and would be keen to know if you come across any so I can share them with him. His issue is around oil usage which though better than it was does still seem a bit high, circa 1L per 2500 miles or so now.

Hartech did a bore scope on mine not long ago when it had 50k miles. They ask if I drove it hard and track day usage, due to the brakes looking a bit cracked and the engine being absolutely spotless. ;)

I've changed my oil rougly every 4000-5000 miles and in between I use about 1l of oil, at a track day it will burn anywhere between 200-400ml of oil at a trackday and I will do 1-2 track days then change oil or 4000-5000 miles whichever comes first.
