Nice restaurant in Nottingham

Iberico - tapas style cuisine but not Spanish. Voted runner-up restaurant by Guardian Food this month.

Went there last month - nice location (pitcher and piano which is in a church is nearby, as is a rather nice cosier cocktail bar, and few other places), good atmosphere, and some of the best food I've ever had. Not too pricy.

Iberico is very good ( 10 quid says you walk past it 3 times before you find it ;) ) though I would say that award is stretching it , Hart's is nice and classy, World Service pretty good but can be hit and miss, for somewhere a little livelier Tonic is excellent

I'd agree with Iberico.

The problem with the likes of Harts & World Service is that they are, as Rotty says, a bit hit and miss. Now if you could get a reservation at Sat Bains..

If you're happy to travel to the outskirts, get yourselves a reservation at Perkins Restaurant in Plumtree. A little pricey, but the food is outstanding.

Despite the strip location next to the Corner House, Antalya is also an excellent Turkish restaurant. Very much recommended, though I haven't been there in a couple of years so not too sure what it's like at the moment.

Sat Bains is bloody pricey though\, you are looking at around £250-300 a couple by end of night :D

out of town Tom Browns at Gunthorpe is excellent

Never changes much at Antalya in all my years going there, always excellent.

French, Petit Paris and Bistro Pierre are very nice.

Steak the Soulville Steakhouse is no nonsense steaky goodness with lots of sauce choices (the blue cheese is aaaawesome)

Indian - Chutney or Laguna, Memsaab is the 'premium' restaraunt, never been convinced myself.

My brother goes regularly and has never mentioned it, though he does like more formal places

Yeah, it might be people just not getting on with the formality of it, though there are many stories of Sat's wife acting like everyone is beneath her etc.

Of course, I haven't been myself so can't pass judgement either way. It's amusing to read Sat's personal comebacks at negative reviewers over on one of the restaurant review sites (can't remember which one it is)!

Thanks for the info so far guys, I think £300 is a bit out of my price range for a first date though!

Ideally in the city centre as I'm getting the train there and we're going for a few drinks so won't be driving. I'd go for the steakhouse in a flash if it were up to me entirely but I have a feeling the lady will opt for something classier, so I'll look into Tonic and Iberico.

Tonic looks awesome, I think I already know what I'm gonna eat too having looked at the menu! :p

Certainly looks impressive in the pics, will let you know how I get on :)

World Service. There's so much choice in the city centre though which sometimes makes it tough to single one or two venues out in Nottingham.

Good to see another Tom Brown's fan Rotty!
