Nice shop bought pasta

Another vote for De Cecco. We compared the Conchiglie with the budget buy and it was noticeably better. We have that and linguine in all the time.

I do definitely think different shop bought dry pastas do taste different.
Looks like i will have to buy online.

Thank you so much for all the comments gents, sorry i haven't responded before. :)

There was a tv show on bbc recently, eat well for less i think it was, where they were looking at peoples shopping habits, swap stuff out for cheaper items and get them to blind taste test it. The one i watched had a bunch of students living together and they spent obscene amounts on "premium brand" dried pasta and they were certain they would be able to tell which was the one they bought. The presenter went and got cheap stuff out of lidl and, as you can probably guess, they couldn't tell the difference and actually preferred the cheap lidl one in the blind taste test. The savings amounted to hundereds of £'s over a year.

I saw that. Didn’t surprise me at all. Dried pasta is dried pasta. It’s so basic it’s just all the same.

Fresh pasta is a different story though.
