There was a tv show on bbc recently, eat well for less i think it was, where they were looking at peoples shopping habits, swap stuff out for cheaper items and get them to blind taste test it. The one i watched had a bunch of students living together and they spent obscene amounts on "premium brand" dried pasta and they were certain they would be able to tell which was the one they bought. The presenter went and got cheap stuff out of lidl and, as you can probably guess, they couldn't tell the difference and actually preferred the cheap lidl one in the blind taste test. The savings amounted to hundereds of £'s over a year.
