Nige`s Destination Nurburgring 14 Report. What a brilliant trip.

Excellent read as usual.

My arse was clenching just watching the video of you were following the red RS4, especially when you were doing 120-150mph in Tiergarten (I think it's called?). I can't imagine how  it is being sat actually in the car. It looked greasy there as well?

And even more so, when I saw you have a blowout just after it. As you said, 20 seconds prior to that, and it could have been messy!

Gaygle, it`s weird. When I am driving it all seems calm and no drama (most of the time ;) ), but I watch the video back and sometimes think "Blimey, that looks quick" but it didn`t feel it at the time. Passengers say the same, I have a GPS Speed display in the dash and they sometimes say after that they lost reference of speed. A corner taken at 80mph didn`t seem fast, but then they realise that`s over the UK legal limit on the motorway.

Some of it is the fact the Golf is now so quick in the fast bits, 150+ Approaching Schwedenkreuz, that a 100mph bend seems slower. Just like when you come of a motorway from 70 into a 30. I know it`s not the same, but I`m trying to convey what it feels like.

Other times it just feels FAST :D

The puncture was worrying but I try not to dwell on these sorts of things...

Love the write up, you seem like a top bloke.

Life is pretty dismal right now but you give me hope of one day getting myself out in whatever car I fancy and having a great time one day. (if you remember you commented about your age when you started and gave me some hope last time).

Great stuff, keep it up!

Thanks Dup and I do remember you. Sorry to hear things still aren`t good :( I hope they improve soon and when I`m back in September you can reply saying "Things aren`t wonderful but they aren`t dismal anymore". Small steps and one at a time.

Don`t aim too high. A stock road car on a cheap trackday would give you the taste and a buzz that would motivate you to do more. It does for me anyway ! I still come away giddy after a trackday and look for what I can do to improve before the next one. Sometimes it`d be nice to just leave things alone, but I`m too much of a tweaker to do that ;)
