Didn't Nikon sell this to Google a long time ago?
Google have discontinued Picasa, perhaps they're about to introduce something new based on the technology used in the Nik collection.

I thought that Nik were an independent software company. They were acquired by Google in 2012 to attract photographers to Google Plus. I started using the collection in 2013.

Someone mentioned earlier that these were plugins, but they all seem like standalone programs to me and can be launched independently.
In fact, none of them work as plugins at all for me. They do not show up in Lightroom.
