Apprantly only around 5 have failed and caused real problems, but Nikon have decided to recall the entire batch that could possibly be affected just to be on the safe side.


Edit - rumour has it that the replacement is a higher capacity :)


Instructions seem pretty clear to me...

You get in contact, they send you envolope, you send battery in envolope, they send new battery.

... and I'm glad it's one of the faulty ones :p New, higher capacity replacement > old, lesser capacity, tbh!
 
Website claims a turnaround of 5-10 days unless they get very busy in which case it will take longer.

Do we really have to ring em up? Seems crazy to me when we have accounts online for this. :(

Edit: Seems Nikon USA have an online request form. :(

Just called up to get mine replaced (on work phone of course) Seemed relatively easy and will post back when I receive my returns envelope. Did have to wait about 4 mins in the queue of a national rate number so make sure you call from work :p

although to actually share some useful info i heard from a mate with a nikon that once you've recieved your envelope and sent it back the turn around time is 10 days...
 
Hmmm 6 days since I called and not even a sign of the envelope im supposed to send the battery back in!
 
Hey I happen to like the high noise levels on my D70 ;) :p

Anyway when I wanted to look at the Fisher Price "My First DSLR" aka 350D, the Early Learning Centre had run out :p ;)

/Puts handbag away and wags finger at Nikon support!
 
Just thought I would update my post in saying that this morning I have finally got my replacement! Its been a very long wait and I sent everything back as soon as I could so anyone thinking of sending their battery off, may want to buy a spare!

The only upside is they send out the EN-EL3E which is higher capacity.

EDIT: Just looked at dates and its taken over a month :(
