Nikon D5X00

I've just ordered a Nikon D5200 with 18-55mm VR Lens Kit.

£380.00 delivered. No extra battery or wireless remote though, that's a crazy price! Where was that from?

Can't wait for it to arrive and should be a nice upgrade from my Lumix G3 micro 4/3 i'm using currently :)

Your price with the cash back included? Not sure if I am allowed to say but a big high street chain (computers), it was marked as 'clearance'. For £70 more you got the VR2 kit lens but didn't I needed it or could be bothered spending another £70.

No cashback. I've ordered it online. It was actually £369.99 delivered.

Yeah actually saw that offer on the internet but when i clicked on their site the offer wasnt there and was listed at as £499?

Read one review which says that the 18-55 VR kit "doesn't do either the sensor, or the focussing system justice" and recommends the Nikkor 18-135mm or 16-85mm... Can anyone comment on this?

That might be because there was a version with the VR II kit lens tthat came in at just under £500. Can't comment on the big standard kit lens yet, I hope it's not awful.

I've just returned from Peru with my D5300 and it's done a sterling job - no worries about the hinged screen at all and the image quality is brilliant - shame I couldn't take my full tripod with me - just had a crap tiny gorilla pod!

I didn't use the GPS at all but I have used the wifi before and for remote photo taking / viewing it's brilliant although Nikon's own app is rubbish - better off using something like "DslrDashboard" - got that on my One (M7) and it does everything in full manual mode remotely except for live view at the moment.

I've had a play and I am inclined to agree about the kit lens. Some shots can look great but I get the impression many could come out a lot better, it's hard to tell as I am a complete novice so some must be down to that.

After some research - the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G Lens seems to be a great first (non kit) lens for typical day to day use. Any comments?

I'm still waiting on my mine to be delivered but since i posted having read the review which stated the 18-55 VR kit "doesn't do either the sensor, or the focussing system justice" i've since read a few more reviews of the lens and the feeling seems to be it's not that bad after all..

I hope it's decent as i'll be getting a lot of usage out of mine.
