I know there's been a few threads on here recently about the 550d. Now at present I have the Nikon d90 with 35 and 50mm primes.
I was bored out xmas shopping and checked out the 550d in a shop and was blown away by how light it was. I know that's usually a criticism of a DSLR, but I actually prefer a nice light body that's less of a burden to carry around. Great bright back LCD as well and well laid out menus. Kit lens was pretty rough though to be honest.
This has got me to thinking - would I be mad to sell my d90 and lenses to get the 550d? I was thinking of getting a body only deal and invest in the 50mm 1.4 Canon lens, and some better glass at a much later date (there does seem to be much more choice of Canon lenses on the 2nd hand market). I mainly like street photography and portraits. How's the high ISO performance of the 550d compare with the D90?
Shall I do it?
Edit: If so I'll sell my GF1 to help pay for the migration, with the lighter DSLR body I'd be keener to carry it around more rather than keep switching to the GF1.
