It does not make sense why a courier would drive up to your house in a van with a card to post to you but not your parcel. Where is the sense in that?
As for postmen I call BS on the majority of the stories where the postie did not have the parcel on him. Again what sense is it for the postie to have your parcel in front of him at the sorting office to then write out a bunch of "not in" cards to take with him? They would just be making more work for themselves and they are not that stupid.
The most of the UK Royal Mail depots are using the van share scheme so they have the ability to take the parcels, also with Royal Mail changing the face of their parcel system in April they will be more equipped to deal with the amount of parcels that gets but through the RM system.
I work from home and my wife is a housewife (get back in the kitchen..........she's also a student and a glamour model (last bit of the last bit is untrue)) and it happens frequently. Unless they are tapping on the door with a sponge they are not in anyway trying to get us to open the door. We have a doorbell which relays around the house.
