Nintendo DS

What are the improvements of the Lite version, other than aesthetics(or not IMO) and are they worth the £40 extra ?

The screen is meant to be much improved, but I haven't seen one to comment personally.

Do most Game stores have one in for demos? I might order one, but I'd like to hold it first to make sure it feels ok.

I can only assume that if the poster above did indeed see a DS Lite when he went to a Game store then he saw the guys own imported version.
Love nor money don't seem to be able to help in getting DS Lites here in the UK even for demo purposes.
I've phoned around a lot of stores (not just Game stores) and they all tell me the same - if they are lucky they may see one a day or two early, certainly nothing right now.

Poster a little bit above - what colour was the one you saw?

£92 with New Super Mario Bros + postage + customs(assuming you get hit) from that site also(£100 including postage). Even if I do get hit by a customs bill I'm still saving on getting the UK version(s). If I don't? DS Lite + brand new game for approx £100 :D.

Tempting - but what about Worldwide warranty?
If Nintendo are like most other manufacturers they class this is a "Grey Import" and won't honour the warranty.
Bit of a long way to send it back if it goes wrong?

Staff in Game were waving a white DS Lite at me at the weekend and asking me if I had seen them yet when I went in to browse the games. I'd say there is a fair chance they have them now as pre-release merchandise.

Whoop

The manager in Game was waving his Lite at me when I went in.... He seemed really deflated when I told him I'd already played on one :)

Just hope you don't get stuck with a load of dead pixels. I ordered my DS from the states and was lucky enough to get a goodun. My mate wasn't, and had no chance of returning his for a refund.

It was the Crystal White one, he was only to happy to wave it about and let me see how it works.

blah, now i've seen what the DS original is going for on ebay, i'll probably get a lite. i'm so coerced by pretty things and marketing :(

anyone know what the dead pixel policy is like for DS lites? i will be buying mine from GAME, will i be able to return it if theres 1 dead pixel?

would you really want to? 1 dead pixel isn't going to affect your game play. i've got 2 dead pixels on my DS at the moment and it isn't noticeable, except for 1 screen on Mario Kart!

But once you know its there.... THAT'S ALL YOU CAN SEE !!!
:p

that doesnt make sense...you can only see it sometimes!! :p

i could understand if it came out of the box with a 6" gouge in the front...i'd return it if that were the case, but 1 dead pixel!? i don't know the screen res offhand, but that's an incredibly small fraction of the screen to be out of action, and it really makes NO difference. like i said, i have 2, and you can hardly ever notice them!

Although the deal from Australia sounds good - I think I'll stick to buying in the UK for my fiancee.
I'm going to pre-order the Crystal White one online at Game this afternoon.
I'm buying her a couple of games as well and MovieTyme do almost all of the popular DS games for around the £20 mark.

I can live with a pixel out (although my other half may not be able to).
If I buy here in the UK it just makes returning things so much easier should things go wrong.

*Hope neither of the two places above are seen as competitors*

even one dead pixel would seriously annoy me, especially on a screen so small! :p

I have 1 dead pixel on my new DS Lite. It's in the very top right corner of the bottom screen and you can only see it when the screen is black.

Don't even notice it's there really.
