Nintendo Wii U Update 3.0.0 brings higher CPU / GPU clocks.

just like devs being lazy on PS3 right? ;)

well no...that's not really the same is it? :p the console has been out 7 years, and has an established user base. If you remember back there were significant concerns about programming for cell, with a post release game drought also, but in the end they got their finger out and showed it could be done.

The wii u cpu is weak compared to the upcoming consoles, but is still better than current gen. A lot of the "its too weak" is coming from EA and their subsidiaries.

What he said,

All that aside, This is a thread about the Update potentially overclocking the Wii u's CPU and GPU.
If you which to be a broken record (or Broken hope....) and make points put across by the gaming industrys most greedy and money concerned publishing company theres a Wii U thread for that....

Indeed, nintendo hasn't really shown off what it can do tbh. However, with retro bringing out a new metroid game and a 3d mario in the works, i think we'll soon see what it can do. I kinda hope they make some glorious visuals (not that it matters that much really) just to embarrass EA and their claims tbh. Would be funny.

Broken Hope makes a valid point - even if you don't like his posts.

Both the Dreamcast and Gamecube were solid consoles, full of absolute gems. But both never had the lifespan or depth of games they could have because they lacked 3rd party support. In both cases EA gave little/no support and it showed.

However, that all depends on how much you car fore 3rd-party support. If, like me, you own a Nintendo console for their games, no problem. Equally, if it's your second console, no problem.

It's an issue if Nintendo are hoping the Wii U would be the primary console, with a high attach rate... Which ultimately results in no further home Nintendo consoles.

Broken Hope was the one who posted he only ever buys Nintendo consoles for 1st party and cares nothing for 3rd party, which is why his posts now tend to make him look like a troll.

I imagine most on here have bought the Wii U as a 2nd or 3rd console and just for the 1st party games.

If that was the case why on earth would anybody buy one at launch, pay a price premium and have no 1st party games to play?

I may not buy Nintendo consoles for 3rd party games since most multi platform games are better on the PC, but you can't say they aren't important since Nintendo make a lot of money from licensing fees, which they won't get if 3rd party devs are abandoning the console, which currently they are.

Take Injustice for example, the PS3/360 versions have had patches for balance changes, a DLC character etc, the Wii U version hasn't even been patched, even when 3rd party games do come out they don't seem to be supported very well.

The Gamecube had far better 3rd party support and had almost all of Ninendo's 1st party games and it still sold well under what Nintendo had predicted, people seem to think Nintendo is going to release a few 1st party games and then the Wii U will sell as good as the Wii did, it won't.

Not to mention Nintendo seem to be having trouble developing games for the console in an efficient way, since Pikmin 3 which obviously started out on the Wii is still miles off, with no EU release date.

I bought it to play Mario U and ZombiU can you play them elsewhere? Also Nintendo Land is great fun when we all play, but yeah there is no 1st party games to play.

Why are you obsessed with something you don't own?

I agree with everything you said but people need to buy the console at launch for devs to support it

Has there been any proof of this speed increase? While I could potentially see a new firmware giving the CPU a speed bump to say 1.5ghz and releasing say half the memory reserved for the OS the current claim seems a little amazing.
