NMCs_Texture_Pack for Fallout 3. *WOW* A must-have!

Yea its really worth getting this mod! Before I installed it I took a couple of screenshots...and then compared them after installation. I know the author has hundreds of comparision shots up on the website but when you see for *yourself* the difference this makes its even cooler. Also its a simple way to verify that the mods installed ok.

Important tip - read the instructions carefully, its very simple to install but make sure you read em.

A huge THANK YOU to the author of this mod, hes put some serious time and effort behind this and has given it to us for nothing. Respek

On another note I dunno why some of you are getting stuttering in this game. I dont get any (even after this mod).....its silky smooth. I see some of you have stutters on systems far more powerful than mine...that shouldnt be happening! In fact Ive had zero problems with Fallout 3..

The only (whats new here) problem I have is that dang GFWL which *never* seems to sign in when I start the game  But signs in just fine on the stand-alone GFWL app

Re the stutter:

The gamebryo engine has always been a glitchy engine no matter what mods you have loaded or not loaded. My FO3 used to stuuter like crazy but a fresh install fixed it, even with a lot mods. It's a bit of a lottery, had the same thing with Oblivion. The last install of that stutters a bit but have had it smooth in the past. Obviously tons of script mods or big texture packs don't help as it pushes the engine beyond its limits.

Nevertheless, I've been using this texture pack for a while now and its nice and smooth on my rig (using the performance pack). I also have a ton of gameplay mods installed. I'm frightened of tweaking it anymore coz it's running brilliant atm :p

This texture pack really killed my frame rates.

To be honest, I didn't like the texture changes that were made, instead of simply being higher resolution versions a lot of them look completely different.

No performance drops here and maybe I'm being picky but I had to actually check to make sure the texture packs were even switched on! They are, but there's not an oh my god look at teh grafx!1one type change. Small differences in certain textures but it hasn't blown my mind and definitely wasn't worth the time it took to download all these files from their crappy servers.

It of course wont be to everyones taste. We're all different :) The cool thing is that its free so no-ones outta pocket.

There is an uninstaller you can get from the same website that takes your Fallout 3 to back before the texture mod.

the fact its free is one of the best aspects of PC gaming, one i hope doesn't disappear, which is third party modding, so many good quality mods around :)

Did any of you read the how to improve performance bit? You can up to double the amount of RAM that Fallout is allowed to address; pretty sure that'd help with your stuttering, I'm on a SATA drive and I've never had any stuttering problems with this game; specs are i7 @ 3.5, 6GB RAM and HD4890.

This difference is in how the game looks is without a doubt worth it imo.

Can anyone recommend an alternative mod to Fellout? I've played through once pretty much vanilla (tried some mods near the end) and love the MMM mod but cant get Fellout to work properly- the game crashes, with a 'nvidia driver stopped working' issue. I've reinstalled and re-patced the game and added mods one at a time to see which was causing problem (Using Fteh mod manager)- I though it would be the memory Mod to access more RAM but it's definately Fellout. All I have now is MMM, memory mod Fellout and the full NMC texture pack. If I cant get Fellout to work I'd like to try some other atmosphere mods- any recommendations?

Downloading now, but Fallout 3 stutters a lot for me too.

That's on i7 920@4Ghz, 6GB Ram, 2 GTX 260 SLI and with the game installed on SATA 3 6GB/sec HDD with 64MB cache, it's also very unstable and crashes a lot.

Stutters a bit for me on my rig aswell, still going to get the texture pack though.
