hi, my room doesnt have an aerial socket connecting to the main aerial in the house. i've used a normal indoor aerial before on my old chunky(hugeeee, not in the good way just big and ugly) tv and i didnt have any problems. i was thinking of getting a small 17-19 inch LCD tv, but my m8 was saying how u cant use indoor aerials on lcd or plasmas..dont know how true that is. also will need to hook up my freeview box to the tv aswell, along with ps2.

ideally i would like to add the socket but dont wanna start hacking away at my wall or worste getting my dad to install it.

would it be possible to use an indoor aerial?

thanx

whats your location? Without that its very hard to say whether it'll be ok or not.

For what its worth i'm using an indoor aerial here on one of my tvs with a freeview box on it fine.

wow quick replys :D

im in birmingham area, checked my post code when i went to get my freeview box and they said "yep thats fine". my biggest worry is will indoor aerials work with LCD tvs? my m8 seems to think not...personally cant see why they wouldnt but im a newbie.

also aerial with these specs work?

• Works with Digital Radio (DAB)
•Indoor antenna for receiving UHF and VHF channels
•Special ultra flat design
•Works in any position
•Can be placed behind cabinets, etc.

not sure if i can post link direct to the product.

ok, brum so probably sutton coldfield.

Aerial goes into freeview box, connect that to the tv then using scart.

Should be ok for reception- best bet is to try it yourself though as thats the only real way you'll find out, in coventry I need an external aerial for freeview but here in cardiff i'm picking up from a transmitter a fair bit away (mendip tx) on an indoor aerial and its fine.

Edit- i'd go for a more normal shaped aerial- high street catalogue shops etc have them for about £20. Also aerial alignment makes a huge difference so it helps if you know the rough bearing of the tx.

A tv is a tv. So yeah.

Besides, if you're using a freeview box the aerial won't even be connected to the tv, it'll be hooked up to the freeview box which will be connected by whatever to the LCD.

You will get a picture, but normal RF arial into LCD isnt pretty. You will get a picture that look s a lot worse than a normal CRT. Plasma handles the signal much better, but still great. Arial > freeview box > scart > lcd would be much better, but it sounds like thats what you want to do anyway?
