Thank you for all your help everyone, when i can get to my grandads i will be sure to try this

WHY HAVEN'T YOU TRIED CLEARING YOUR CMOS?

I'm hitting my head against a brick wall here.

He doesn't have access to the system by the sounds of things and even said he would try it when he does.

He doesn't have access to the system by the sounds of things and even said he would try it when he does.

I read it that he has the system but he wants to go to his Grandads to try his monitor.
All he needs to do is try a reset on his CMOS which will take less than a minute and if that fails then try another monitor.
