No Boot Following Side Panel Removal

OK so yesterday I disconnected all the cables from my pc and took the side panel off so I could measure my current AIO radiator and inside case as I have a new AIO coming which is bigger.

I put the panel back on and plugged everything in but the pc wouldn't boot. The gpu (1080ti) lights up and fan spins, low rpm. The AIO lights up and I can feel fluid circulating. I can feel my mechanical HDD spinning and the keyboard lights up. The bios led comes on to show bios1 (MSI X99a sli plus mobo). However the 2 case fans do not spin and there is no signal to the monitors.

I opened the pc back up and checked to make sure all connections were in properly. I swapped the power cable to the gpu as I had a spare. I tried the gpu in the 2nd pcie slot. Took the gpu out completely as well as the ram but everything remained the same. No boot and not even any sound from the pc, I'm not sure if this mobo does beep codes.

I got another gpu to try from a friend but exact same thing when I put that in so hopefully the 1080ti is fine as I don't have the budget at the moment to replace that.

So my thinking is somehow the motherboard has died? Could it be the psu? Unfortunately I don't have a spare to test with. Anyone recommend anything else I can try?

When you say you disconnected all the cables, were these external cables or internal?

Also: have you reseated the RAM?

All external cables as I had to move the pc off my desk. I have tried reseating the ram, as well as trying individual sticks one at a time. I have 4x 4GB DD4(2400mhz)

Your board is most likely not beeping because you don't have a pc speaker attached.

Gonna hope that OCUK are okay with recommending Amazon here given it's only a few quid. If you go there you can pick up a set of 10 pc speakers next day delivery for £7, if you don't get any other insights here, that might be a good next step.

It sounds to me like the PC is starting normally, just not displaying anything. Have you tried outputting to another device?

If by other device you mean another monitor? I have 2 monitors and it's the same outcome with both.

The fact that the case fans are not spinning up is interesting. If a case fan that is connected to a sys_fan header is not spinning, you can get kicked into the BIOS. Are your case fans definitely still connected? You could (it's a long shot) try disconnecting them (if they are definitely connected) and seeing if you can start from there.

I would have suggested checking the DP cables as issues with them can cause what you're describing. Although, you already seem to have tried different cables.

Net, the fact that the case fans are not spinning up is where I would start looking.

Check everything is fully seated, particularly internal and external cables. It's really easy to bump something.

I've probably ran through this about 10 times now just to make sure. I've also disconnected pretty much everything non essential with no luck.

I don't know if this has any bearing on anything but the rear case fan was plugged into sysfan1 and the front case fan was plugged into sysfan2, neither of which worked.

The AIO fans were plugged into cpu fan 1 which were working. So I unplugged that and plugged the rear case fan into cpu fan 1 and it now works.

Best not to really start/try to start your PC without cooling on the CPU. Doesn't matter which sys_fan header the case fans are connected too.

When you say 'now it works' I'm assuming you mean the case fan and not the entire PC yet?
